Is there any Private or State funding for Seniors who enter the Coverage Gap?

161>I work for BlueRx and have Sr. call all day telling me they have already entered the Coverage Gap...I am thinking Holy Crap it is the Second of Feb. They have two options go with out their prescriptions all year...or come up with the $3600. Some do and some don%26#039;t qualify for Low income assistance. But from what I have found in my research online, there is no hope unless you qualify for Low income assistance. So the message is...be poor and be sick is okay...have assets or retirement with a value more than 20,000 a yr. and get sick and no one is going to help you...Our Enhanced plan does cover thru the gap but only on generic drugs...and 90% of cancer drugs don%26#039;t have a generic...only 20% of Anti cancer drugs have an oral substitute that you can claim on Medicare Part B instead of counting towards the Gap on Part D
Reply:Unfortunately this has become quite common. As far as i know it is as you say.Pay for you medicine if you have any money. After you are broke then you can get help.Maybe.

I am 61 so I have seen more and more of this happening.I wish i had an answer to this sad problem for our elderly.
Reply:In Texas there is no state funding that covers the Medicare Part D gap. But I hear the new legislature is trying to think of something, but who knows what will happen. Being old sucks and it%26#039;s expensive.
