Should i go tanning...is it good for your skin?? dermatologists please answer?

456>i know about the whole %26quot;skin cancer%26quot; scare...but suppose i dont care (so please dont say dont go cuz its bad for your skin) i dont care...anyways, i used to have acne that was like mild...(not TOO bad but pretty bad) anyways, i took tetracycline anti-biotic and i just finished them and also i use Duac and i was wondering if it would help the scarring (now that my acne is gone) should i go tanning? please give me advice...tell me pros and cons...specially if there is a dermatologist out there. i am still acne prone and i NEED to get rid of scars on my face!
Reply:Like laying out in the sun, tanning in a tanning bed can help dry up existing pimples, but it%26#039;s not going to do anything for your scars. And it is bad for your skin. I%26#039;d stick with the medications, unless you someday want acne scars AND age spots.
Reply:You may not care now, but I%26#039;d like to see you when you%26#039;re 30 and look like you%26#039;re 50.
Reply:Instead of tanning to get rid of scars on your face your should try microderm abrasion, they have at home kits or you can get it professionally dont, nutragena also has a acne fading scar kit. tanning is only a temporary fix and destroys melanin in your skin and melanin helps prevent scars. its really not worth it. and some times it can make scars worse.
Reply:Tanning wont heal scars but it will cover them i would definetely try a different approach for fading scars Go here for lots of tips

I use lemon juice for my scars it works great use once/twice daily with a cotton ball
Reply:For all information and details about tanning please check out http://use-tanning.blogspot.com/

Tanning is bad for your skin.Skin cancer is a bad disease.I hope you do not go through with it.

How to remove sun (liver) spots?

455>I am 28 yrs old and have fair skin. I have never been one for tanning in my younger years %26amp; have never gotten sunburned. Everyday I use SPF 15, I wear a hat when going out %26amp; in general I avoid the sun like the plague. At a very young age I have been anti-age obsessed, unline the other girls my age who would tan. So you can imagine my shock when on my left cheek I developed a SUN SPOT! First, I can%26#039;t imagine how since as I said I take so many precautions. And 2nd, I want to get rid of it. I went to a dermatologist who confirmed it was a sun spot. She put me on Tretioin 0.25% cream. However, creams like Retin-A, hyrdroquinone tend to scare me.For one, I really don%26#039;t want chemicals on my face. Hydroquinone has cancer causing properties and is banned for use in Eurpoe. And Retin-A may actually WORSEN hyperpigmentation on spots and can reoccur once you stop using it.

What I am looking for is a NATURAL way that is effective in PERMANENTLY erasing this spot!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Go to a dermatologist they will take good care of you.
Reply:Vanishing cream... Do they still even make that? LOL, Im old!

Remember Porcelana anyone?

Seriously... go see your local dermatologist. Kinerase and skin ceuticals have excellent products out for that but you usually can only buy them locally from a Dr. even though they require no prescription.
Reply:You%26#039;re only 28 years old and you%26#039;re getting those? Eew. You probably have skin cancer or something. My grandfather get%26#039;s those and he has skin cancer.

*EDIT* RESPONSE TO ASKERS EDIT

Wow, you%26#039;ve got some serious anger issues there. I suggest you go to the hospital so they can check out that wicked premature skin cancer you got goin%26#039; on, and then duck into a psychiatrist%26#039;s office.
Reply:I think they can remove it w/ a laser, but im not sure.
Reply:Kojic Acid is also a newly discovered, successful treatment of age spots and other pigment problems. It is not an alpha hydroxy acid, but rather has the same mechanism of action as Hydroquinone. It is derived from a variety of different fungi and organic substances (such as soy and mushrooms). Research shows Kojic Acid to be an effective lightening agent that inhibits the production of melanin (brown pigment). Its low risk of oxidation creates a more stable product, resulting in a longer shelf life.

How many people find this article interesting and informitive and would read it all?

454>I think reading this in 5-7 minutes would be better than listening to the news in a lifteime.Plz don%26#039;t think I%26#039;m a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope.

My question is: what percentage of what I say is acceptable to you?

This article has three parts: 1.Cultural and general info 2.music and 3.political, so plz read it from the top to the bottom.

Hi.I%26#039;m Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.

The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don%26#039;t let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most liberal people in the world (liberal meaning not obeying laws that they don%26#039;t like).Thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa.That%26#039;s why you don%26#039;t understand a few of Iran%26#039;s laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it%26#039;s a kind of immitation, but still it%26#039;s got an unique Iranian style. People wear fashionable scarves to make themselves more attractive and most part of their hair is out, also it%26#039;s a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don%26#039;t fit our culture at all, however it%26#039;s normal in Iran. You really need to pay a visit to Iran and you%26#039;ll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It%26#039;s wonderful. The Iran you know, is related to at least 30 years ago.At present, everything%26#039;s so great if you don%26#039;t take unemployment and air pollution into account. So many things have changed so far.I can%26#039;t even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran%26#039;s population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran! What would you tell me if I tell you that women are now overtaking Iran? They%26#039;re treated very well, most of the times they%26#039;re the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities. They get the best jobs.They%26#039;ve got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford. (so, they can simply sit in the corner of prison! lol). The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s just because IN IRAN, such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls.I don%26#039;t think girls would go there, even if they%26#039;re allowed to do so.As far as I know, not many girls in Iran are interested in football!

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourself they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was once ruled by those freaks (Taliban).I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that we%26#039;re Persian and some Turkish not Arab! And I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world.There%26#039;s nothing mysterious about it!(The media is very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more educated, intelligent and open-minded than what you think!!! I%26#039;m sure you don%26#039;t know that there are lots and lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don%26#039;t hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. A small example is this 17 year old boy who%26#039;s invented 72 amazing inventions. You don%26#039;t know that Iranian students and sportsmen are winning gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don%26#039;t the media talk about them?Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few weeks ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and now it%26#039;s signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What I found instead? %26quot;President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!%26quot; The media are injustice.They%26#039;d put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they would never talk about facts! Some interesting facts:

Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designer of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams. The 4th highest tower (Milad tower) in the world is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link). The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians.It%26#039;d be the only country that has all 4 seasons during the year simoltaneously. It means that while it%26#039;s winter in one part of it, it may be summer / spring in another part! And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners with Dollars of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar=about 950 Tomans!) Who do you think is building Dubi?Arabs? No my friends, Iranian architectures, engineers and traders funding them, cos they don%26#039;t think building the same things in Iran would be beneficial for them, Since the media scare tourists away from Iran. There are many other things. And also, Iran is a very independant country. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn%26#039;t need other countries to survive! That%26#039;s why the unfair U.N sanctions don%26#039;t bother us! The list is endless.

Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious, not so generous, not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable.

Some people think, Iran%26#039;s a desert! Iran%26#039;s a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not! (Surely it doesn%26#039;t!)

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran.Did you know that Iranian pop music has won the prize in France in 2005?Iran%26#039;s full of music and they%26#039;re all current pop /Trance/ DJ music. The best you%26#039;ve ever heard.

It%26#039;s now 2007 and people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!!!!

See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true.If you think I%26#039;ve been admiring Iran too much, that%26#039;s because you%26#039;d do the same thing if you were looked down nearly everyday for some false reasons.

I think it%26#039;s better to clarify some political issues as well:

Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it%26#039;s said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The media are good at putting comments.It%26#039;s easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don%26#039;t get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. like picking up some specific sensitive phrases from among a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and putting so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it serious.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it%26#039;s not bad.Is it? We hate neither Jews nor Americans.They%26#039;re both nice people. If their media are fooling them, it%26#039;s not their fault. If I were in their shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Although ordinary Iranians don%26#039;t care about world affairs, I%26#039;ve got to say that for us Israel is not equal to Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?That%26#039;s so funny. Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.And I wonder why some Muslem countries think there%26#039;s a problem between Shiites and Sunnies. It doesn%26#039;t make sense in Iran.

I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? How is it possible for Iran to nuke somewhere while it doesn%26#039;t have any nukes?!!!(The media have never been intelligent liars).Has Iran ever attacked any countries?There%26#039;s no proof on that.That%26#039;s even what nuclear agency says.Only Iran%26#039;s oppositions are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.

Some say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he%26#039;s said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it%26#039;s a passive sentence.He%26#039;s never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! And he wasn%26#039;t talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they both could live in peace.They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the rest of it and it%26#039;s mistranslated deliberitely.Iran%26#039;s always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country. While some countries which have nukes are clearly threatening Iran to nuke her! Good, isn%26#039;t it?

Some say he%26#039;s said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000000 Jews were killed, that%26#039;s so terrible, but those 300000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren%26#039;t important at all! Over 650000 Iraqi people are killed and it%26#039;s not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran%26#039;s 690000000 population, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you%26#039;d get the point why he%26#039;s IRONICALLY said it%26#039;s a mith. Moreover, don%26#039;t you believe in freedom of speech/mind?

Obviousely, some countries are using Iran as a victim to put the blame (their own faults) on Iran. And which country is better than Iran to be a victim?They%26#039;ve made the whole world believe that Iran isn%26#039;t a peaceful country and represent false image of Iranians by making insulting movies like %26quot;300%26quot; . I know Americans don%26#039;t like these either, but what can they do?The media are so biased.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world.

Thanks.
Reply:Thank you! That was very interesting!

I hope your country will be left in peace ASAP. If only Bush would be stopped!

My dad is sick his white blood cell is 800/ul?

453>my dad is 61 years old his doctor found out that he has bone marrow failure. his white blood cell is very low. In every week he gets blood from donnor ,but still his white blood cell is low and his normal blood with red blood cell is low also the shape of his red blood cell changed, and his bone marrow is full of eosinophils . I really need help the doctor said that he can not do bone marrow transplant for him because it is very risky for his age, so what should I do to help my father I%26#039;m really worry about him please help. now he is taking Gleevec Tablet 100 mg daily ( one tablet a day) and 1g of anti infection tablet every six hour, but it is about one month he still same ( his white blood cell is getting down. I%26#039;m really worry about cancer. please help my dad please.
Reply:I am so sorry to hear how sick your dad is , you really need to know that the doctors are doing everything they can for him. Its like a failure on their part if they don%26#039;t fix someone they take it personal. Bad news is always bad news hun and is never easy. Be there for your dad and do whatever you can for him make sure hes got the best health care and that%26#039;s all you can do. Oh and tell him how much you love him
Reply:my father had a disease called I.T.P. similar symptoms, check it out. A major help was having his spleen removed

Whats the best way to overcome a death of a sibling?

452>My brother died in march who had a wife of 5 years and 2 children I have had counciling and am taking anti-depressants and although the pain has got easier to deal with i still find it hard to cope when religious people say that he%26#039;s in a better place and that he was needed else were. When in my eyes he was most needed here with his family and he was in the best place he was (with his family) He was only 32 and had a very rare case of liver cancer and he had done absolutely nothing wrong in his life whatsoever he didnt drink much at all and never took drugs his only vice was he smoked until he was 27 wow big deal there is no justice in the world
Reply:Unfortunately bad things happen to good people and vice versa. That%26#039;s just the way of the world. It%26#039;s no worse than religious folks telling you what they think you want to hear. That%26#039;s all they%26#039;re doing because they don%26#039;t really know how to cope with your grief.

Life is for the living and you have to get on with it, it%26#039;s not disrespectful to his memory.
Reply:Sometimes people just get sick. It%26#039;s nothing anyone could have prevented. Just remember, he%26#039;s not sick anymore. He%26#039;s in a place where there is no sickness. He%26#039;s not suffering anymore and he%26#039;s happy. I would rather have someone die than have them alive and suffering from a disease. My aunt died about a month ago from cancer. She had 3 little ones (11, 8, and 4). She had been suffering so long with the cancer that it was a relief to us all when she passed away. Don%26#039;t spend your time feeling upset because it won%26#039;t bring him back. I%26#039;ll keep you in my prayers. God bless.
Reply:As time goes on, it will get easier. I am truly sorry for your loss. I also hate it when I have lost a loved one and people tell me they are in a better place. No, they are dead and that sucks, I would rather them believe. The only solace I can find is that if they were sick, they no longer have to endure the physical pain. If you don%26#039;t like what the religious people say, tell them to take their opinion and shove it, they aren%26#039;t you and they don%26#039;t know exactly how you feel.
Reply:I%26#039;m really sorry for your loss. The pressures of life will propel you on,%26amp; gradually the pain will ease, but there will always be a corner of your heart reserved specially for him.You should try %26amp; help his wife %26amp; children the best you can.Good luck.
Reply:we humans don%26#039;t always see fairness or justice in many of life%26#039;s circumstances-my sympathies to you and also the family he had. time will ease the loss, you will always have memories. you could do what you can to be supportive of your sister-in-law and the two children. involving yourself into the family and community will take your mind off this for some of the time-the more you deal with the living, the less painful death becomes. hug
Reply:whenever my father died i was only 15 it took me a while to understand why he left me. but i just went to another country for a while it helped me alot because i was not reminded of him as much since there was nothing around me that i was used to seeing. it is better i guess that there gone since there not in pain and i think that you can get through it just take it one day at a time. good luck (i would tell you i am praying for you but i doubt you want to hear that)
Reply:Both of my sisters died in their 40s from two different types of cancer. One of them was a major health freak and the other one only got excersize by walking from the TV to the fridge.

Here are some of my thoughts on the matter. First, every person dies. Death doesn%26#039;t care how old you are or how many kids you have. Your brother%26#039;s death didn%26#039;t happen to punish him or his wife or children. His death wasn%26#039;t a punishment to you or any of his family. It%26#039;s not about justice. We will all die whether we are good or bad, healthy or sick, moral or immoral.

Second, just breathe. In an out. That%26#039;s it. That is how you eventually get to a place where you don%26#039;t hurt so much and miss him so much. That is how you start to remember good things with peace rather than agony. Just keep breathing in and out, go to bed at night and get up in the morning. The rest is just details and doesn%26#039;t really matter much. I guess it all just comes down to time.
Reply:Regrettably there is no easy fix way of dealing with death. To say time is a healer is not being glib, in time you can learn to live with what happened. Millions have and do. Special events such as Christmas and birthdays can be especially hard. You miss him. It is a human reaction. However, there may be one or two things you can do to make it easier. There are benches in areas with plaques on that say %26quot;in memory of....%26quot; which you could do and other things that are more of a permanent memorial than just a gravestone. Some people set up charities or fund raise for charities. He is gone and nothing will bring him back but things such as these may help make his absence a little less depressing. Take care.
Reply:I greatly sympathize with you and am so sorry that you lost your brother. My 17 yr old sister-in-law died on January 1, 2006. She was in a car wreck with eight other people and she was the only one that died. She was so beautiful and had a bright future ahead of her. She was to graduate this spring and then go to a university on a scholarship. My husband is really hurting right now. You can%26#039;t help but ask %26quot;why?%26quot; All you can do is move forward. Death is a part of life and you will lose a lot of loved ones along the way. It doesn%26#039;t make it easier to handle each time it happens, but you will learn to cope and find that time takes care of everything. Maybe you can find out about some organizations that deal with cancer patients and victims and volunteer. This way you will be honoring your brother. Your brother%26#039;s children are also hurting, you should spend time with them. He will live on in them. Maybe you can find solace in that? May life bring you good fortune and happiness in the future!
Reply:Look up Grief Support Groups in you area. If you do not find them, contact the nearest Hospice %26amp; they will know if there is one around.

The well meaning Christians do more harm than good with people who do not share their views; they don%26#039;t mean to, it%26#039;s just all they know to say.

Grief, like everything else that exists, is temporary. You will remember your brother, your relationship, %26amp; his many fine qualities for the rest of your life. You will hopefully get to tell his kids about him. Please consider: would your brother want you to feel so bad for him? Wouldn%26#039;t he want you to try to find happiness in your life?

Death comes for everyone - these bodies %26amp; the lives we live are impermenance itself; changing instant to instant with the false appearence of solidity %26amp; the illusion of enduring. Most of the time we accept the false appearence as reality. Death harshly reminds us of this false view we normally carry, %26amp; for a short while, we see things closer to what they really are. That%26#039;s part of grief - seeing the world as shockingly temporary %26amp; completely unreliable. We realize we can%26#039;t count on things or people to last.

As for justice? You can make yourself feel sick by looking for that, even if you are not grieving!!

I would not say these things if I could not speak from understanding. I have lost family members %26amp; understand what that feels like. Grief has its own time, and it has an end.

My question to you is, now that your understanding of life is deeper, how will you apply that understanding?

Think about it. And don%26#039;t worry if you still have a few tears left before you can smile again.

;-)
Reply:There is no justice but I believe God does take the good early, maybe so in the case of your brother.

My sister died of a recurrence of very aggressive breast cancer at 36 %26amp; left behind 3 kids. Time is the ultimate healer of all wounds which right now I know is easier said than done. Her kids are great tributes to her %26amp; the oldest looks %26amp; acts just like her so I tend to be selfish %26amp; spend time with them, to still have pieces of her in them. I try to focus on great memories that we shared %26amp; realize that it was God%26#039;s plan, even though it doesn%26#039;t always make sense or seem right. Sometimes he spares those from more suffereing as he doesn%26#039;t give us anything we can%26#039;t handle. Obviously, sprituality has helped me tremendously but I understand that doesn%26#039;t work for everyone. Rely on other family members that remember your brother as you do, spend time with his kids on your good days, that will help them too. Seek therapy if necessary %26amp; try to be strong. God Bless.

Also, as the ultimate respect to your brother, realize that he is no longer here but you are. He would want you to make the most of your life if he were here %26amp; doesn%26#039;t want that to change now that he%26#039;s gone. Look at each day as the day that your brother no longer has but you do, in memory of him, carpe diem!!
Reply:I%26#039;m so sorry. I can relate to you a lot. It sounds just like what I was going through about 5 years ago. My brother had died of a rare stomach cancer. He was 27 when he died. Didn%26#039;t drink much, didn%26#039;t smoke. He was married for 5 years as well and had 2 little twin boys. It%26#039;s very hard for anybody to go through. It took me a long time to get over his death (I%26#039;m still not completely over it. he would have turned 32 a couple weeks ago). And I think that%26#039;s all that you can do. Is give it time. Lean on anybody around you that you can. I think what is most important is to be there for the wife and the little boys. If you want, you are welcome to email me if you want to talk. Jenni41203@yahoo.com Take care.
Reply:Hi, like you I know what it is like to loose loved ones to cancer. My sister who was a young wife and mother of 7yr old twin girls and another little girl aged 5 died at the age of 35 of breast cancer. Four years later my niece aged 31 again a young wife and mother to a three year old boy who had serious heart problems and a 10 month old girl, actually she was diagnosed whilst pregnant with her daughter, died from cancer. 24 hours before she died, my dad died of congestive heart failure, at her bedside. He just got out the word %26quot;Hello%26quot; before he slumped in the chair. In the midst of all this my older brother was killing himself with alcohol. He died 7 weeks later. How do you overcome the loss? All I can say is that grief is a journey. You will have good days and bad days. Angry days and sad days. Days filled with beautiful memories. You will learn to live with your grief. You will see your brother in his children and know that he still lives. I believe in God and I know he helped me a lot. Other members of my family got great help from grief counselling. Maybe this would help you. But know that your family are not alone in their loss. Right now some other family are going through the same thing. Take care and I hope you will be able to come to terms with your loss.
Reply:sorry to hear about your brother staffy. i lost my dad in august and like you i hate when religious people tell me %26quot;he%26#039;s in a better place%26quot; when i dont believe all that stuff. im finding it hard as time goes on yet i thought it would get better.

take care of your brothers wife and kids as best you can.

wish you well

good luck
Reply:Firstly, although you are probably sick of hearing it, I am sorry for yours and your families loss. In answer to your question, I frankly don%26#039;t think we ever get over the loss of a loved one, we just merely learn to adapt to life without them. It is still so early in the grieving process for you and I am sorry that you are having to take anti-depressants to try and help. I had anti depressants when my daughter passed and feel that although it %26#039;helped%26#039; at the time, it was only masking over my feelings. Tears cleanse our souls and help us heal, it is good to cry and its natural to grieve. It is also natural to have feelings of injustice and bitterness when you lose someone, especially so young. I think you need to give yourself some time, its not the best healer, it just helps you adjust. One thing I have learned since my dear dad passed to cancer, is that, however much we don;t want it to, normal life has to go on but things are never and will never be the same again. Draw close to your family and feel their support and love. Try and remember happier days, it will come, not yet probably but it will happen when you can think of him without this empty hollow painful feeling you are getting right now. Take care of yourself. xx
Reply:All i can say is that you will never get over the death of some one but most people think that they will forget them, that is what you need to cover come, is that you will never forget them but to keep them in your heat but to also get on with things, as i have found it%26#039;s the people who is left behind it%26#039;s most hard for as i lost my mother at a young age.

Can i also say anti-depressants DO NOT work it just makes it harder when you stop taking them to deal with the situation!

Keep yourself busy and talk to those who are in the same pain it will help you in time.
Reply:Am really sorry to hear of your lose. I lost my dad 25yrs ago when i was 8,i have never got over it,but it gets easier with time.

I gnore the religious people they dnt know s**t unless they been through it themselves.
Reply:You have my deepest sympathies - sometimes death can seem so futile - you wonder if there is anyone up there when such a thing can happen. You will ge through this, you just have to take one day at a time. You will never forget your brother, but it will get a lot easier with time. Give as much support to his wife and family. Remember, a part of him still lives on in his children. He would be proud of the way you are dealing with things. Give yourself time - remember it is still very early days.
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry about your brother, my husband lost his mum to cancer

in january this year she was 47 and it still don%26#039;t make sence.when people give advice they mean will but some times it%26#039;s not what you want to hear. for me watching my partner deal with his grieve i%26#039;ve learnt you never really get over the death of a love one you just learn to deal with it better over a period of time be 1 or 50 years we all deal with it in our own way.

How is it possible to absolutely categorize Alcoholim as a disease and not an illness?

451>%26quot;Disease%26quot; is a very loosely defined term in many respects. There are multiple disorders, infenctions, and symptoms that can be typical of a definable disease. Also, a disease must have specific and constant cause(s), which in the case of Alcoholism is the CHOICE to drink ethyl-alcohol. The cause of the %26quot;disease%26quot; is the recurring and disregarding CHOICE to drink. A choice, however pathological or illogical, doesn%26#039;t seem to be appropriate as a cause or a condition of any disease. Despite the negative psychological, physiological, and other results of long-term alcohol abuse, it seems that it shouldn%26#039;t be classified as anything more than a treatable mental disorder.

%26quot;Illness, although often used to mean disease, can also refer to a person%26#039;s perception of their health, regardless of whether they in fact have a disease. A person without any disease may feel unhealthy and believe he has an illness. Another person may feel healthy and believe he does not have an illness even though he may have a disease%26quot; - Wikipedia on %26#039;Disease%26#039;

It is true that if some Alcoholics didn%26#039;t have a disease to blame for their disorder, they would not be able to stop drinking. It is also true that because of Alcholism-as-a-disease, many people who ABUSE alcohol are led into misperceptions about their drinking habits. In fact, it is only alcohol DEPENDENCE that could possibly even begin to be categorized as a disease.

An individual who is alcohol-dependent exhibits behavior indicitive of addiction. Drink-seeking, withdrawal and tolerance, and psychological malfunction among others are the results and symptoms of addiction. My father and friends have struggled with alchohol and drug addictions and I have seen the both successful and unsuccessful treatments implemented in their lives.

It seems that Alcoholism and drug addictions are psychological disorders that in a vast majority of instances could be cured by a conscious choice (however difficult) to STOP using the cause of the addiction. It has been proven in many instances that an addict can stop using the object of their addiction without any complications, as long as they are commited to quitting.

It seems that diseases should only be those such as Cancer, Diabetes, Hepatitis and the like. People who have these diseases cannot make a choice to simply stop a behavior to ease their pains. Whereas, although undoubtedly difficult, an addict can ease his or her addiction by making a powerful choice to stop using.

By allowing alcoholism to be categorized as a disease, it seems that negative stigma is removed from addicts%26#039; behaviors and people who drink are given an excuse to justify their behavior. Instead of feeling like they%26#039;ve let themselves and their families down, they are able to blam their behavior on a cause outside of their control, which is simply not true.

%26quot;Neither the U.S. Veterans Administration nor the Social Security Administration makes payments to individuals, whose disabilities stem from substance abuse, including alcoholism.%26quot; - From Shoutwire

I am NOT pro- or anti- any of this I am looking for factual objective evidence and ideas that could lead to helping me understand why Alchoholism is given reprieve by its disease classification.
Reply:The so called %26quot;holy bible%26quot; of the world of Psychology and Psychaitry classifies Alcoholism as an addiction, and a psychological disorder (call it illness, disease, whatnot). With it%26#039;s classification in the DSM-IVTR, it is now possible to use this disorder as reason for non-competence for crimes, permanent psychiatric disability and other medical claims.
Reply:Well about half way through I had a problem and I developed this question. What is the difference with what you were saying in comparison to a cigarette smoker for some it%26#039;s the habit and the motion and some get physically sick for the lack of nicotine is it not similar. emotional vs physical and different for different personality types? :-) Guess I could read on have a good one:-)

OK I%26#039;m finally done now i get it, it%26#039;s all in there head so all they have to do is get it out of their head and it will all go away. They just will it away. Take 2 aspirins have a sucker and call me in the morning:-)

oh excuse me revision: update-read the last part. it was taken out as a disease because social security was being drained by leagal alcoholics that the government makes good taxes off of. The only help and recourse for a recovering alcoholic, drug user, vet, is a mental health clinic because why did they drink in the first place. Now uncle sam pays for their drugs and kills them off with a lousy health plan. looks who is on all the class action suits that will never collect anything. Trust me I have done my homework on this subject. I know many vets and low income disabled people. Nothing has changed but the name of the disease.

Are you an open minded person? (If so, what do you think of this?)?

450>I think reading this in 5-10 minutes would be better than listening to the news for a lifteime.Plz don%26#039;t think I%26#039;m a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope. This article has two parts: 1.Cultural and general info and music 2.political info.If you wanna know a part of the truth, read it from top to bottom.

Hi.I%26#039;m Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.

The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don%26#039;t let you be free.Actually, Iranians don%26#039;t obey the laws they don%26#039;t like as much as possible. Many strict rules in other countries, don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa.That%26#039;s why you don%26#039;t understand a few of Iran%26#039;s laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it%26#039;s a kind of immitation, but still it%26#039;s got an unique Iranian style.You%26#039;ll begin to wonder if it%26#039;s a country or the fantacy land of beauty queens! Almost half their hair is out and they wear a lot of make up and fationable clothes.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics.You%26#039;ll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! Everything%26#039;s great if you don%26#039;t take unemployment, inflation and air pollution into account which I guess are common problems in many other countries. You can%26#039;t compare Itran today with the one in 30 years ago! Nearly 65-70% of Iran%26#039;s population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran! Women are overtaking Iran. They%26#039;re so respectful and they%26#039;re the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities cos they%26#039;re so clever. They get the best jobs cos they can do jobs better than men.They%26#039;ve got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands should buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law which most husbands cannot afford, so they%26#039;ll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s because such places are full of cheeky guys. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing DJ / pop songs.Anything! I%26#039;ve put a sample here.I feel foolish for sitting here explaining ordinary things to you.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourselves they relate to how many years ago?For your information, those are from Afghanistan which was ruled by freaks (Taliban). When you think of such things, try to think of the racism in your country too.I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! 60% of Iranians are Persian and 30% are Turkish! I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world.There%26#039;s nothing mysterious about it!(The media are very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more open-minded than what you think!!! I%26#039;m sure you don%26#039;t know that there are lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don%26#039;t hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. For instance this 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions and there are many KIDS like that.Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don%26#039;t the media talk about them? They just can%26#039;t summerise everything in one word %26quot;nuclear%26quot;, although we%26#039;re proud of it cos having nuclear energy means a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and it was signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What did I find instead? %26quot;President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!%26quot;(The same old story!) The media are injustice. They put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they never talk about facts! Some interesting facts:

Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams and in loads of other things! It%26#039;s one of the top countries in these fields: bio-technology and nono-technology.The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran ( visit it in the second link).51 top universities out of the 100 top universities in the Mid-East are in Iran and they%26#039;re among some of the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians and lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in the field of medicine . And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Iranian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar =about 950 Tomans!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country?Iran is an independant country unlike its neighbouring countries. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn%26#039;t need other countries to survive! The list is endless.

The news this morning: %26quot;Iranian scintists managed to make human teeth grow again after you%26#039;ve lost them using basic cells%26quot;

I%26#039;m gonna intoduce you the international news website of Iran (called press TV) which was establlished recently.It%26#039;s fully in English.Plz vist it and you%26#039;ll find out what they%26#039;re hiding from you! In the %26quot;Sic / Tech%26quot; section you%26#039;ll always see the discoveries of Iran. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working for themselve, lazy in doing their duty well!, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious (sadly majority of the young generation is not), not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable.

Some people think, Iran%26#039;s a desert! lol Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! I guess not.All Iranian songs are current pop /Club-Dance/Trance/ DJ music.I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they%26#039;re some of the best songs they%26#039;ve ever heard.

And so on and on!

It%26#039;s now 2007 and people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!!!!

See how the media are fooling people?

Let%26#039;s clarify some political issues as well:

For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it for granted.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it%26#039;s not bad.Is it? (Although what we want them is to shut up and not to get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern) We hate neither Jews nor Americans.I love Americans otherwise why would I talk to them?! How would our guys dream of America, be like them as much as possible and hate it at the same time?! I%26#039;ve got to say that for Iran Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov%26#039;t.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?It%26#039;s so funny the way you imagine things and make yourselves believe in your own immaginations! Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.On the contrary, meeting different people would be so interesting for us!

I wonder Iran is a threat to whom. Is that logical to say someone%26#039;s guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he%26#039;s going to do something wrong?!!!! And they repeat the same %26quot;nuclear%26quot; tosh over and over and brainwash people! News headlines: %26quot;We won%26#039;t allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons%26quot;!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No.Has it developed any nukes?No!That%26#039;s what nuclear agency says.Only Iran%26#039;s oppositions are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg and what they say is of no credit.It%26#039;s just based on political conflicts. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! How logical!

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he%26#039;s said this at all?You know that it%26#039;s a passive sentence.He%26#039;s never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn%26#039;t talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they could both live in peace.They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it%26#039;s mistranslated intentionally.Iran%26#039;s always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country.

Some say he%26#039;s said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000%26#039;000 Jews were killed, that%26#039;s so terrible, but those 300%26#039;000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren%26#039;t important at all! Over 650%26#039;000 Iraqi people are killed and it%26#039;s not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran%26#039;s 69000%26#039;000 population within two weeks, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all!

And which country is better than Iran to be a victim?They%26#039;ve made the whole world believe that Iran isn%26#039;t a peaceful country.I know Americans don%26#039;t like these either, but what can they do?They%26#039;re not responsible for controlling what the media say

This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says %26quot;Death to America%26quot;: 1.America means the U.S govt not the people 2.The new generation don%26#039;t say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that%26#039;s because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfreids/boyfriends! Strange.Isn%26#039;t it? 3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt%26#039;s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn%26#039;t deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S gov%26#039;t helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It%26#039;s always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It%26#039;s always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc)

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.Firstly, It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and it%26#039;s almost a part of history and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy.Aren%26#039;t they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and has tortured the one who was freed. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom.It%26#039;s exceeded the level of tit for tat.

Isn%26#039;t it better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? The two govts are like 10 year old children playing a game by harsh rhetoric. They don%26#039;t care about hurting people%26#039;s feeling. They just try to show that the people are enemies of each other to achieve their own goals. We as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace.It%26#039;d be marvelous!

Plz whenever you have time, find and read an article about %26quot;ethnocentrism%26quot;.Knowing the meaning of this term is not enough. After reading about it, you%26#039;ll feel a noticable positive change in your attitude towards different people! Guaranteed!

Thanks for your time.
Reply:Very interesting. There is a fellow in our neighborhood who is Iranian and his family is still there but he travels back and forth as he managed to get American citizenship through the company he works for. He shows pictures of his family and they don%26#039;t look any different from people who live in the U.S.

Sometimes I go to an Iranian restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona and the food is delicious. It is run by a family who came to America in the 1940%26#039;s and this is the third generation of people running the restaurant. Grandma still comes in to make a delicious pudding on occasions.

You should know that it is the stereotypical idea of most Americans to lump all people into groups. During the 1800%26#039;s all Native American tribes were lumped together and what one tribe did, the white Americans thought all Native Americans did that and as a result many wonderful Native American tribes were wiped out. Of course there were some tribes who were hostile, murderous and tortured people for fun but there were only a few like that. Most were peaceful, nature and family loving people as most people in the world are.

I appreciate your long writing and want to copy it and pass it around as I am sure that what you say is true. I know that Iranians are intellegent and that is a challenge to the economics of the U.S. As most leaders in the U.S. are in the business of making money, they most likely resent the challenge of higher intellegence and inventions in medicine. It does seem to be the way of the U.S. to not reveal much valuable information on our news broadcasts. In my opinion, a naive people are easier to control.

I am a white, female American and I have noticed that the most ignorant Americans are also the most arrogant, the most fearful and the most dangerous. The more intelligent Americans are less confident, more cautions and yet less fearful. We have a saying in America... %26quot;The more you learn, the more you learn that you have to learn. The less you know, the less you know that you need to know.%26quot;

I too, would like to see both nations getting along but our leaders will not tolorate that as there is great money to be had by the building of war machines. We must always remember that what the people really want in their heart isn%26#039;t what the leaders what for us. We are sold a bill of lies and the public who buys it becomes violent, fearful and hateful. I%26#039;m a true believer in thinking with the heart and not in believing everything we are told.

NO XENOPHOBIA!!!

Thanks for writing and giving us real news.

By the way, I copied and pasted this into a document that I can print and pass around for people to read. I%26#039;m a music and an English teacher. I will let my junior high students read it and give comments. I will post it on other places on the internet that I find appropriate. Thanks for telling the real news and giving such wonderful web sights. I love the truth and know that American television isn%26#039;t providing it. (You know, Yahoo may very well delete your account for this. The least you can expect is that your question will be deleted as it can be deemed as %26quot;not a question%26quot;. So sorry.)
Reply:Thank you. I think that was a very good explanation, but I doubt if many people are open-minded enough to appreciate it. I thought it was a very well written and informative piece but a lot of people won%26#039;t believe it because it is not what Fox news are telling them

Iran is a democracy
Reply:It was most enlightening, and quite thought-provoking. Unfortunately, the governments of both countries will do as they will, and the media will assist in their endeavors, and the average person will be judged and condemned. mocked and ignored. It%26#039;s part and parcel of the First Amendment to attack different opinions.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your perspective.

Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it%26#039;s a kind of immitation, but still it%26#039;s got an unique Iranian style.You%26#039;ll see lots of beauty qeens on the streets that are just like models advertising fashionable clothes! Most part of their hair is out and they put on to much make up, also wearing scarves is a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics (which is bad for our economy)! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don%26#039;t fit our culture at all, however it%26#039;s normal in Iran.You%26#039;ll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It%26#039;s wonderful.Everything%26#039;s so great if you don%26#039;t take unemployment and air pollution into account. Many things have changed so far.I can%26#039;t even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran%26#039;s population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran! Women are overtaking Iran. They%26#039;re treated very well.They%26#039;re the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities cos they%26#039;re so clever. They get the best jobs cos they can do jobs much better than men.They%26#039;ve got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford, so they%26#039;ll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s just because IN IRAN, such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls.I don%26#039;t think girls would go there, even if they%26#039;re allowed to do so.

The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians.

Which logical rule admits that it%26#039;s logical to say a country is guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that she%26#039;s going to do something wrong?!!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries?There%26#039;s no proof on that.That%26#039;s even what nuclear agency says.Only Iran%26#039;s oppositions are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could invade the countries in our neibourhood just as what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! This could be a modern and innovative form of philosophy and logic!

When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran%26#039;s 69000000 population within two weeks, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all!

I know Americans don%26#039;t like these either, but what can they do?They can%26#039;t control what the media says.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world.

Reply:I for one would love to see peace.

I would love to see America stop spending our money on war.

We unfortunately have elected(?) an IDIOT for a president, TWICE!

Yes there is no doubt that the media distorts the truth. There is only one reason for the media to lie to us. That is because it brings more power to those controlling the media. But then it%26#039;s the same for both side of the story. The eastern media distorts the truth also. We all need to start treating the media like the story tellers they are.

No matter where you go in the world, people are basically the same. We have family that we love. We have friends that we enjoy spending time with. I have friends that don%26#039;t like Iran, not that they know anything about Iran, just that they believe what they hear on TV. I%26#039;m sure the there are Iranians who have strong negative opinions about the US even if they don%26#039;t know much about us. If Iran didn%26#039;t have beautiful places and wonderful things then why would anybody stay? An Assyrian guy that I work with grew up in Teheran and still misses it. I probably will never see it, as a young man I was able to travel around the world (thanks to the U.S. Navy) and what I found is that I love my home.

As for myself, I can honestly say I don%26#039;t have any grudge against the Persian people, I wish them all the very best that life can bring them. I don%26#039;t trust the Iranian government, but then I don%26#039;t trust the American government either. Government%26#039;s main function is always to get more power for the government.

As I said I think Bush is a fool. He was told by experts, who live in, work in, and study the near eastern culture, NOT to do what he did in Iraq. Yes Saddam was a tyrant. Yes he was the CIA%26#039;s bad boy, and the American government helped him to do many of the horrible things that he did. The US has made many many mistakes in foreign policy, and should probably stay home for a while till we learn how to play well with others.

For anybody who would say I%26#039;m not a patriot, try burning the stars and stripes near me and see how that works. I love my country and the ideals that it was founded on, and for those I have put my life on the line and would do so again, but we as Americans must see our own mistakes before we can fix them or at least stop repeating them.

Rallying for someone else's cause?

448>Just read about %26quot;10 Important Women You%26#039;ve Never Heard Of%26quot;. While I commend these women and I am inspired by their commitment to help others, I can%26#039;t help but notice that the others they want to help are other women. What is the challenge in wanting someone just like you to have a better life?

Where is the woman concerned with testicular cancer? The man concerned with abused women? The white person rallying for better education for african americans? The african american concerned about anti-semitism? These people would be my heroes. Do we only honor those who want the best for their own kind?
Reply:Hi RJ! There are a lot of people whose interests cross the lines of their own backgrounds...but the reaction isn%26#039;t great. People either say %26quot;why would you work for those others instead of your own?%26quot; or, especially in the case of white people rallying for African-Americans - paternalistic or condescending.

I don%26#039;t agree with these views at all...I%26#039;m just saying it%26#039;s out there. I support HRC and I%26#039;m not gay, but that%26#039;s a small thing. I know lots of men concerned with abused women, but their action tends to be local - beating on the guy, or helping one woman out of a bad situation.

Lots of people take a longer view, too. I work for progressive candidates because I feel that they cover most of the issues I care about. My DH and I chose careers in service instead of the money because it was the best way to make a larger impact. But they%26#039;re our jobs, not our donations.

It%26#039;s out there, my friend...you just have to look for it.

Be good!

Don't you think it's cool if Iranians and Americans talk to each other rather than allow their govts talk?

447>I think reading this in 5-7 minutes would be better than listening to the news in a lifteime.Plz don%26#039;t think I%26#039;m a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope.

The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians.

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran.Did you know that Iranian pop music has won the prize in France in 2005? All Iranian songs are current pop /Trance/ DJ music.I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all admit that it%26#039;s the best music they%26#039;ve ever heard. They specially love the beat.

You can just right click on the links below and choose %26quot;Save Target As%26quot; to download them.You%26#039;ll love Iranian style.It%26#039;s nothing like what you expect! You can read the translations in here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I know Americans don%26#039;t like these either, but what can they do?They can%26#039;t control what the media says.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world.

3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt%26#039;s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn%26#039;t deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S govt helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It%26#039;s always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It%26#039;s always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc)

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy.Aren%26#039;t they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and keeps denying that they%26#039;re diplomats. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom.It%26#039;s exceeded the level of tit for tat.

It%26#039;s better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations. The two govts are like 10 year old children jumping at each other verbally, but we as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent. So sorry for that.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace.It%26#039;d be marvelous!

Thanks.
Reply:Hi there. Just wanted you to know it%26#039;s a good thing you%26#039;re trying to do here. It is always great to see someone else%26#039;s perspective; because if you only look from your own how boring is that...?

By the way it%26#039;s difficult to say how much is acceptable here. All of it maybe, or most or little. You should list sources for just about every fact that you put here. But who knows? Even if you do, what makes you think that your sources there are much better than ours here? You are welcome to your opinion and I happen to think yours is an excellent one.

I wonder how much of what is said in the media is propaganda/ things taken out of context/ blown out of proportion for ratings, government power by popular intimidation, etc. Having said that, I doubt either Iran or the USA, or any country for that matter, have media free from propaganda. I%26#039;m still waiting for the Propaganda News Channel. They might as well call it what it is!!

I agree about people from different countries talking directly and circumventing the governments and for the most part discrediting the media. What you have said demonstrates the governments%26#039; wills to have control over popular opinion, so they can have their way.

I don%26#039;t know the reason behind it; maybe it is so other countries will be afraid of the U.S. and not mess with it. Or they have a hidden agenda so the government protects the future of the country from its people. If the people in the U.S. saw things from say for example your perspective, from the U.S. news and government, that Iranians are great people... then the U.S. would become soft and not act like the 500lb. gorilla in the room, thus leading to the U.S. not getting its way as often. They would think other countries are out to take advantage of the U.S.%26#039;s kind heart and generousity if they didn%26#039;t discredit other countries, and the U.S. would lose their status as top dog in the world. Just a theory, but probably not far off.

Keep it up. If you want to reach more people consider keeping it much shorter, like just a few lines that make people think about one small topic at a time, yet sum up your point. Take care.
