Removal of sun(liver)spots.?

407>I am 28 yrs old and have fair skin. I have never been one for tanning in my younger years %26amp; have never gotten sunburned. Everyday I use SPF 15, I wear a hat when going out %26amp; in general I avoid the sun like the plague. At a very young age I have been anti-age obsessed, unline the other girls my age who would tan. So you can imagine my shock when on my left cheek I developed a SUN SPOT! First, I can%26#039;t imagine how since as I said I take so many precautions. And 2nd, I want to get rid of it. I went to a dermatologist who confirmed it was a sun spot. She put me on Tretioin 0.25% cream. However, creams like Retin-A, hyrdroquinone tend to scare me.For one, I really don%26#039;t want chemicals on my face. Hydroquinone has cancer causing properties and is banned for use in Eurpoe. And Retin-A may actually WORSEN hyperpigmentation on spots and can reoccur once you stop using it.

What I am looking for is a NATURAL way that is effective in PERMANENTLY erasing this spot!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Try Porecelana or Nadinola cream. They are available at the drugstore. It takes a month to 6 weeks to work so be patient. Otherwise use a cover up stick to touch it up.

Are religious people like Bush bad for society?

406>I say yes. Religious people like Bush are anti-science. This needless Iraq war has cost billions and medical research has had funds cut because of the war costs. Medical research has been hurt by right wingers like Bush. 1500 people die from cancer daily yet research has been delayed. Even stem cell research has been hurt by Bush. Galileo was persecuted because he proved that the world revolves around the sun and this was against religion. I will never vote for a evangelist for President because I don%26#039;t want science hindered.
Reply:Superstition and leadership don%26#039;t mix. I couldn%26#039;t care less that , as Marx (Karl, not Groucho) said, %26quot;religion is the opiate of the people%26quot; in general- people love to be led. But when a leader, influential like Bush or a Reagan, use fantasy like the bible to make decisions its a very scary situation and yes it hurts science and reason. Its so sad that even intellectual leaders have to feign religiosity or else would never be elected. %26quot; God wants us to...............%26quot;, is a spooky world eh?
Reply:Why is this in the Health section? Should be posted in political.
Reply:Bush is not religious. He is a moron.
Reply:Bush is not necessarily religious. He is a politician and we don%26#039;t know what he really feels. Politicians only put on poses and express opinions that will get them votes. We don%26#039;t know what he really feels, we may never. I have a suspicion that he doesn%26#039;t feel much of anything about anybody.
Reply:Religious people are great for society. Jackasses like GWB that pretend to be religious are an insult to the human race.

A few questions about religion?

405>Mind you, I%26#039;m not an atheist, christian, or satanist, so don%26#039;t come at me with snarky comments. Just answer the questions please. Thanks!

1. Why does God cause suffering in the world. For instance, cancer. Why did God create something so terrible that causes so many so much pain. And don%26#039;t say %26quot;because he%26#039;s testing your faith%26quot;

2. Why come many (not all) christians answer simple questions that have to do with THEIR opinions with quotes from the bible? If I wanted to know God%26#039;s opinon, I woulda read the bible first off. I want yours, not God%26#039;s.

3. If the bible says God loves us all equally, then why do christians who are anti-gay say God hates homosexuals? That%26#039;s just a tad contradictory.

4. This isn%26#039;t really a question, but when I was 7, I had a preacher take me to a back room and yell at me and tell me if I didn%26#039;t become a christian, I would burn and suffer in hell. I started crying, so he then said I was saved and gave me a dollar and told me go. What%26#039;s up with that?
Reply:1. God does not cause suffering. But after mankind showed God that they would not %26quot;trust and obey%26quot; Him, He allowed the enemy/satan have a go at them. In a perfect world, as Eden was before the original sin, there would be no suffering. We will experience that again in Heaven.

2. Probably because our opinions come from the reference book of life, which is what we consider the Bible to be. (Just my opinion.)

3. God does not hate homosexuals; he hates homosexuality. God loves us all. He loves the sinner but hates the sin. And homosexuality is a sin, along with pride, cheating, adultery, envy, etc. We ought to have that attitude also; love the sinner but hate the sin. (Applies to ourselves, as well. I sin every day.)

4. Not all Holy men or women are Holy. The enemy/satan, who uses every chance to engage in a %26quot;smear campaign%26quot; against Christianity, has his biggest pool of %26quot;candidates%26quot; from church people (and the holier the better). Ever wonder why so many people who once appeared to be righteous, Godly people get involved in adultery, embezzlement, lying, etc.?

In other words that preacher or your childhood was once a true servant of God, but somehow he let the enemy/satan into his life and did a great disservice, to God and to you, by his method of bringing you to Salvation.

Hope this answered your questions somewhat. God bless.
Reply:1. Why assume God does these things, or exists?

2. Many people agree with what they believe to be God%26#039;s opinion.

3. Most Christians don%26#039;t say this.

4. It%26#039;s weird, that%26#039;s what.
Reply:1. suffering is to test us humans, that is why we are here to begin with. God wants to see if we still will love him no matter what.

2. i guess it is because christianity focuses on faith and trusting in god thats it. christianity does not allow u to explore and question the religion. it does not allow u to ask questions regarding beleifs.

3. god does love all people equally, he made us to began with. it is when we start making wrong decisions when god is %26quot;against us%26quot;

4. force to religion rather than understanding. he did not tell you why. he expected u to give in with out question.
Reply:If you are serious about theology visit catholic encyclopedia on line or CPATS.org for answers to your questions...your questions are viable concerns and I ask you to research theology from a catholic perspective, why? because it is the oldest Christian religion along with the Orthodox church(Greek, Russian etc) and the amount of theological references are immense, I Have spent many years studying theology trying to satisfy my spiritual questions...peace be with you.
Reply:I ask forgiveness for the other Christians%26#039;s sins against you and against others. I am sorry to say that the church is divided and that not all agree on what to do.

Cancer-

About cancer, my father has cancer so please do not use that as an excuse not to accept God. He is showing us on this world that this is a temporary world which, with all of its evil, will be destroyed only to be replaced by a new and perfect world. There was no disease or hunger or death until man sinned. Satan is the one doing this to us so why blame God? We tell Him that we want our own free will so that we can do as we please, but with that free will we destroy ourselves and blame it on God.
Reply:there is a saying that if there is no religion, man need to invent one, why ? because no social norms have been successful ever in putting our minds in peace, contentment.

About your comments, its not God to be blamed, He had handed us the light or guidance for our welfare but it is us who deviate from those teachings or perform otherwise what was not intended to be so we got lost, ruined etc.

Your preacher? well, not all people are diplomatic in relations, he may have good intentions for your betterment but said it in the wrong way. Just beware of other sweet talkers but only wished for his profit or benefit and does not care if it destroys you.
Reply:Nowhere in the Bible does it teach that becoming a Christian will give you %26quot;gravy train%26quot; all kinds of good things while on earth. Consider Jesus, Gods own Son. How good did He have it? His earthly life wasn%26#039;t nothing but peaches and cream. Did He suffer? Was He mocked and rejected? Was He put to death? Yes to all the above. If Gods own Son had tribulation in life, what makes us thing by being a Christian, we won%26#039;t? There is also an anti-God force in the world. It%26#039;s called Satin. Does Satin sow good or evil in the world? Regardless of the manner of death (and I assume none of it is much fun) while on earth, no one lives forever. How best is one tested? When things are going good, or when things are going bad? What shows the true you, What shows the most character, the way a person deals with good things or not so good? My opinion of things is what I have learned from the Bible as Gods opinion of things. It shows where and why my opinion is as it is.The words God hates homosexuals is not correct. Jesus died to pay the penalty of everyone sins. Gays included. God may not desire that there be homosexuals, but that doesn%26#039;t mean He hates them. I can%26#039;t answer your last question. That would be a question to pose to that preacher. I will say that that was the wrong way of doing things.
Reply:#1 my true believe and understanding is the God did not create cancer, aids or any of the other diseases...it was a result of our sin..for instance God says in Leviticus 19:28

%26quot; %26#039;Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. But man does it anyway..and what comes from doing such? Hepatitis C for 1. It was a result of us not listening to God

#2What good is mans opinion? ..after all there are so many men and many opinions..wouldn%26#039;t a smart person want the opinion of the ONE and ONLY God who has the power to save?

#3 because they are ignorant to the word of God and think they in themselves are righteous but do not realize that the measure they use to judge the gay person , that they themselves will be judged with the same measure. God does love all people that is why he sent Jesus..it IS Gods will that all would come to repentance.

#4preacher man didn%26#039;t know how to deal with a young child (sorry that happened to you)
Reply:1. God does not %26quot;cause%26quot; suffering. God does allow suffering. There is a great deal of theology that deals with this subject and %26quot;why%26quot; is usually solved as this is part of the human experience. Bout it. Humans need adversity to grow. Problems to solve and so forth. There is no pat answer.

2. I occasionally use a bible quote as I have found these distilled forms of truth, truism, or wisdom. Often these are exactly what I mean and these also mean a lot to Christians looking for bible based answers.

3. Homosexuality is directly against what God wants - as matter of fact - as far as I know - homosexuality or practicing homosexuality is not accepted by any of the major religions. This is just what it is and cannot be changed. At some point in thinking and action God draws a line according to religion and this is one of the lines. Many religious groups today have pulled away from this line.

4. The so called pastor was a very sick man. There is no such thing as being sent to eternal burning hell and tortured forever. This is fiction that is used by sickos to control and intimidate people and obviously small boys too.

The more we know about each other, the less politicians can scare us.Do you agree?

404>I believe that if you spend 10 minutes reading this essay, you will be better informed than if you listen to a lifetime%26#039;s worth of Major Media news. This article has two parts:

1. Cultural and general info

2. Political info.

Note: I%26#039;ve explained everything.Any answers before reading the whole thing will prove to be wrong.Specially the political part.I%26#039;ve provided evidance for whatever I say.It%26#039;s just the way it is.

Part 1: Cultural and general info

Hi. I%26#039;m a 19 year old Iranian who has spent his life in Iran.I study English. When I chat with people from other countries, I am shocked to see how totally wrong their ideas are about Iran. I wrote this article in an attempt to help correct those ideas.

The first thing America, and the West in general, accuses our government of is that we don%26#039;t allow personal freedoms. Actually, Iranians disobey laws they don%26#039;t like as much as anyone. There are only a few restrictions.It%26#039;s cool over here. People here do whatever they wish to! Many strict rules in other countries don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. Some of Iran%26#039;s laws are based on OUR culture. You look at our country from %26quot;your own point of view%26quot;! In Iran every single house has a sattelite dish. Sattelite television has a serious influence on our people, and Iranians wear very fashionable clothing. Maybe it is a kind of imitation, but we still have our own unique Iranian style. A visitor might wonder if this is a country or a fantasy pageant of beauty queens! Almost women wear half their their hair out, and make-up and fashionable clothing are everywhere.I ignore a few fuddy-duddies though! We look at the world in a beautiful way, cos we know what%26#039;s it like! Many of you don%26#039;t even have a clue what%26#039;s life like in other countries! Buy a satllite.It%26#039;s worth it! I assure you!

You would be surprised to see the difference between what you imagine and what Iran really is!

In my view, everything is great, if you ignore unemployment, drugs, inflation and air pollution. (Common problems in today%26#039;s world?) Also, you can%26#039;t compare Iran today with the Iran you remember. The Shah and the Iatollah Khomini are both some 30 years in the past! 70% of Iran%26#039;s population is a new generation (Under age 30) without the biases of the past and we%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Ever heard Iranian girls are terrific?I%26#039;ve collected some photos showing Iranian girls! Look! Poeple are like this!

http://i10.tinypic.com/4clk3us.jpg

http://tinypic.com/2d0nfao.jpg Enough proof?

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place. They%26#039;re very respectful, and they%26#039;ve been the winners in so many cases: They get into the best universities because they%26#039;re very smart. And they get the best jobs because they can do so many of them better than men. They%26#039;ve got Islamic rights, and that has in some cases made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands are supposed to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women have the right to ask a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law, which most husbands cannot afford, so men will be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s because such places are full of cheeky guys. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing pop songs.Anything! I%26#039;ve put a sample here.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery. Have you ever asked yourselves how many years ago that footage related to? Are they balck and white or colourful? But in one case (related to many years ago) the thing that had happened was incest not adultery. Most of those footages are from Afghanistan which was ruled by freaks (Taliban) or the very early days just after Iran%26#039;s revolution! Otherwise you%26#039;d get new footages at least once a month! What exactly makes you think women are treated differently? The way they were/are treated in Saudi Arabia? Try to think of the racism in your country too. Each country has its own problems.I found a BOOK of the U.S problems and it got me dizzy! Iran has its own problems too.

Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are --------- SEPERATE COUNTRIES! --------- Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! Iran is a normal country like any other in the world. The Media are very good at creating really scary stuff: %26quot;IRAN BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!!%26quot; %26quot;IRAN UNDERCOVER!!!%26quot; Some of that garbage would be enough to scare ME away! But in truth, Iranians are far more open-minded than you have been led to believe.

There are lots of Iranians today who are geniuses and scientists, and are all under age 25. For instance a 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions. Every year a special scientific compeition is held here and students assemble to show off hundreds of inventions. Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different competitions in the world all the time, in robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don%26#039;t the Media talk about them? Please don%26#039;t summarize our nation and culture with the single word %26quot;nuclear%26quot;. Although we%26#039;re proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it.Now, I found it among the English news: %26quot;The medicine is produced from herbs using nano technology%26quot; The link to read about it is: http://www.payvand.com/news/07/feb/1032....

The Media are unjust. They never talk about facts!

Some interesting facts:

Iran is a pioneer in medicine and genetics, and Iranian surgeons have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects, and many diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgeons are Iranian. The pioneer in heart transplants and artificiall hearts and so on and so! (I%26#039;ve put two websites below) The head of the Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian. Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering. Holds the second place in building dams and in loads of other things! It%26#039;s one of the top countries in bio-technology and nano-technology. The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (visit it at this link from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Milad... ). 51 of the top 100 universities in the Mid-East are in Iran, and they%26#039;re among the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter, a woman the nobel peace prize are Iranian. The 6th top movie director in the world is Iranian.(Abbas Kiarostami) http://arts.guardian.co.uk/fridayreview/...

Iranian Director%26#039;s Film Wins Spanish Festival Top Prize - VOA News (September 25, 2004) These are just small samples.I can%26#039;t put every news about Iran here. Then you should visit press TV website.

Iranian girls are famous for being terrific. We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets, artists and scientists that are world famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (one Dollar =about 950 Tomans! For example you can buy windows vista for 1 Dollar here instead of 700 Dollars!!!wow!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran has nearly all the industries and technologies found in %26#039;developed%26#039; countries. Oh, and we have four seasons! We get a lot of snow and there are skating rinks! lol The list is endless.

I%26#039;m gonna introduce Iran%26#039;s international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It%26#039;s fully in English. In the %26quot;Sic / Tech%26quot; section you%26#039;ll always see Iran%26#039;s discoveries. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Enough evidence?

Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California a desert. We share the same latitude. Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. %26quot;Music of Iran and Iranian musicians have received countless awards in the course of history. Every year from 1977 to 2007.Evidence? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Ir...

I send Iranian music to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they%26#039;re some of the best songs they%26#039;ve ever heard.

Here%26#039;s a sample of the latest hits from two official Iranian music websites. You can just right click on the links below and choose %26quot;Save Target As%26quot; to download them.I guess you%26#039;ll fall for it! Iranian music is just modern pop and the best sort of it.

And so on and on!

It%26#039;s now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels!

Part 2: Political info.

Let%26#039;s clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans think that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The Media are good at putting lying comments out there. I really don%26#039;t get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us. The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would make them controversial topics to interest its viewers! For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without refering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it%26#039;s not bad, is it? (Although what we want from them is to shut up and not get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern) We hate neither Jews nor Americans. How would our guys dream of America, want to be like them as much as possible, and hate them at the same time?! SECRET: Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American! Being agaisnt the U.S policies is a different story! We live basically the same lives.Don%26#039;t look at the way women dress at the public places! You%26#039;ve got to see them in other places!I%26#039;ve got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov%26#039;t. Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. (20,000 Jews and lots of Christians live here! Iran%26#039;s different!) And two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Muslim knocking at your door asking you to do so?

Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us. In Iran, religion is one of the least important factors. Where you come from and what your religion is are not important to us at all.

I wonder who Iran is really a threat to. Is it logical to say someone%26#039;s guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he%26#039;s going to do something wrong? And they repeat the same %26quot;nuclear weapons%26quot; tosh over and over and brainwash people! Correction! It%26#039;s %26quot;nuclear energy%26quot;. Besides, how many %26quot;nuclear weapons%26quot; do they have themselves? Hundreds of thousands? Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No. Has it developed any nukes? No! That%26#039;s what nuclear agency says. Only Iran%26#039;s opponents are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg and what they say is just based on political conflicts. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Saddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relations with all of them.

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! the thing is that he exactly said: %26quot;The Imam %26quot;Khomeyni%26quot; said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.%26quot;They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it%26#039;s mistranslated intentionally. Besides, they%26#039;ve been saying such things for a long time.It%26#039;s their habit.Here%26#039;s an article.%26quot;Wiped off the map....The roumor of the century.Read how the media and the U.S newspapers have twisted it into a controvertioal topic. http://www.antiwar.com/orig/norouzi.php?... I don%26#039;t like the way he speaks frankly, but admit that other presidents say many terrible things too, but the media doesn%26#039;t pull their leg so much!

Now you see that you were wrong.Iran has always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country.

Some say he%26#039;s said: %26quot;The Holocaust is a myth!%26quot; Again, this is a single phrase taken from a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so. If 6,000,000 Jews were killed, that%26#039;s terrible, but 300,000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren%26#039;t important at all? Over 650,000 Iraqi people are killed and that%26#039;s not important?! When Fox News simply says that America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing Iran%26#039;s population of 69,000,000 within two weeks, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nagasaki and the Vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you%26#039;d get the point why he%26#039;s IRONICALLY said it%26#039;s a myth. Moreover, don%26#039;t you believe in freedom of speech/mind?

Some countries are using Iran as a scapegoat to put the blame (for their own faults) on.

This part is just for Americans:

Those of you who say why Iran says %26quot;Death to America%26quot;:

1. %26#039;America%26#039; to us means the U.S govt, not the people. How do you expect Iranians to mean %26quot;American people%26quot; when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up %26quot;no war%26quot; placards?! Also, I see a lot of %26quot;Let%26#039;s nuke Iran%26quot;s on YA.Isn%26#039;t that a kind of %26quot;Death to Iran%26quot;?

2. The new generation don%26#039;t say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that%26#039;s because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfriends/boyfriends! Strange. Isn%26#039;t it?

3. Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt%26#039;s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn%26#039;t deny that attacking countries is a mistake. Would you?)

4. The U.S gov%26#039;t helped Saddam attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed a million Iranians.

5. America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason.

6. America places sanctions on Iran, promotes a false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away, and harms our economy, development and credit. To what purpose?

When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he%26#039;s said, what do you call Bush for his actions? I mean it%26#039;s a good idea to consider what Bush is doing to the world with his wrong decisions and lies. Bush is powerful and influencial, but Ahmadinejad is nothing.He%26#039;s even failed to control the inflation

.

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days:

1. Firstly, It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and it%26#039;s almost a part of history, and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be chaos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy. Aren%26#039;t they?

2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and had tortured the one who was freed. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. How do you believe in their lies about politics when they hide both the most and the least important things from you considering the fact that politics is the world of lies in its nature?!!!

If you like to insist on your theory of attacking Israel, I%26#039;ll tell you our logical theory: %26quot;The moment that Iran attacks Israel, Iran will be wiped off the face of the earth by the U.S and its allies.(Thought this twisted phrase is familiar to you) and Iran is far more logical than doing such a stupid thing%26quot; So, forget about it.I%26#039;m quite sure you know that all the events and lies in the world are a part of a pre-planned scenario by major world-powers (Iran as an important country has always been a part of their plans)And the first step is to brainwash people. They excactly know what will happen even 50 years later! I think Iraq is such a good example.Attacking it with the excuse of removing Seddam while they%26#039;d put Seddam there themselves and had supported him for years! The same is true with Al Qaida if you do some research! But in this particular case Iran and the U.S were co-operating in fighting the terrorists in Afghanistan.

When we think of the U.S, we think of its greatness and its countless %26quot;positive points%26quot; not its president. When you think of other countries, you think of their presidents or a nation as a whole?! No gov%26#039;t in the world is representative for its people.Try to judge everyone righteously not just by a few things that you find as %26quot;negative points%26quot;.

Isn%26#039;t it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov%26#039;ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. They don%26#039;t care about hurting people%26#039;s feelings. They just try to make our two peoples enemies to achieve their own goals. We, as the people of these countries, MUST NOT allow these conflics into our hearts. Now, what do you think? You%26#039;ll have elections soon and we%26#039;ll have one in 2009.You just vote for a Democrate and we%26#039;ll find someone who%26#039;d get along with the U.S (Our former pres is a nice bet).Deal? No matter how much they hide this fact, but if Iran and the U.S co-operate with each other, not only the Mid-East crises will be solved but also it%26#039;ll have a great positive impact on the world.I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace. It%26#039;d be marvelous!

BTW, Did you find my article informative? : )

Thanks for your time
Reply:Hello! I am so happy to see this! I am a 25 year old American woman. I agree with you so much! I am so sick and tired our children being taught fear and hatred. Americans (including myself) are hidden from the truth about anyone who is different in order to instill fear, to avoid any chance of an overthrow of government. I find Iranians very beautiful and you seem to have a very beautiful and enriched culture. Thank you so much for this and I really hope that more people take the time to consider what you have said. Best of luck and send me e-mail if you%26#039;d like.
Reply:Yup, I%26#039;ve seen your essay before.

Most of us don%26#039;t think Iranians are bad people. We%26#039;re just afraid that your government is unpredictable and dangerous. Ahmedinejad makes veiled threats regularly, and we never know if he might follow through.

I would love to reach a day when Americans and Iranians were once again friends, but you need to change your government first. Probably we do too. But our change is already scheduled for next year. When is Ahmedinejad done?
Reply:Salaam,

What Bush has done in the last 7years, he%26#039;s injected severe fear in Americans blood. Most Americans are terrified of the unknown and mostly for the things that are not even exist!!

There%26#039;re many who want to know the truth and fix the problem but Bush and his administration has done a great job of holding them back!

Science project help?

403>My daughter is 13 and doing a project on the element %26quot;selenium%26quot; for science.

She needs to make a 3D replica of a selenium atom and convienently forgot it was due on friday until just a few minutes ago. She has done all the reseach, but can%26#039;t think of a creative way to make the atom.

For those who don%26#039;t know: selenium works with Vitamin E and helps prevent cancer and some diseases, and is used in photoelectric cells, TV cameras, as a semiconductor in solar batteries, light meters, copy machines, anti-dandruff shampoo and rectifiers. Also colors glass red.

So, does anyone have any creative ways to make an atom (possibly that has something to do with what the element does?) with stuff that would probably be found around the house?
Reply:try play dough or clay
Reply:well i dont know about around the house, but you can run out to your local Micheals or craftstore and grab a medium sized stirofoam ball and a few smaller ones cut the smaller ones in half and glue or even stick a toothpick in it and stick them into the big ball paint them different colors of course. the small balls represent the electrons and the big ball the nucleus. then just put in on a stand and your good to go!
Reply:I%26#039;m just brainstorming off the top of my head but I hope i can help! Umm, you could use something pink like for the breast cancer awareness stuff, like the pink cancer awareness tic-tac mints, you could use batteries, you could use actual vitamins, beads, you could get styrofoam balls and color them or put glitter on them or something...thats all i can think of right now, but good luck with your project!
Reply:Do you have styrofome or clay laying around the home? Your best bet would be to use those and paint, shape them to what is needed.

If you want your daughter to get a high prized science project, a demonstration would be valued too. Maybe you can get hold of solar batteries somewhere. See what happens when you put copper in the solar battery instead of the selenium. Then try the selenium.

It only takes a day to get the results, make a visiual aid, and put together the science board. It will take two if she has other things to do.

I%26#039;m working on a science project right now on superconductivity and electrolysis. It just means I%26#039;m trying to get really high energy efficiency by running a current through water.
Reply:Try using paydough or clay

Will you think differently about people and the world 10 minutes later, after reading this?

402>I think reading this in 5-10 minutes would be better than listening to the news for a lifteime.Plz don%26#039;t think I%26#039;m a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope. This article has two parts: 1.Cultural and general info and music 2.political info.If you wanna get enlightened and shocked read it from top to bottom.

Hi.I%26#039;m Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.

The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don%26#039;t let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most liberal people in the world (liberal meaning not obeying laws that they don%26#039;t like).Thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa.That%26#039;s why you don%26#039;t understand a few of Iran%26#039;s laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it%26#039;s a kind of immitation, but still it%26#039;s got an unique Iranian style.You%26#039;ll see lots of beauty qeens on the streets that are just like models advertising fashionable clothes! Most part of their hair is out and they wear a lot of make up, also wearing scarves is a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics (which is bad for our economy)! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don%26#039;t fit our culture at all, however it%26#039;s normal in Iran.You%26#039;ll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It%26#039;s wonderful.Everything%26#039;s so great if you don%26#039;t take unemployment, inflation and air pollution into account which I guess are common problems in many other countries. Many things have changed so far.I can%26#039;t even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran%26#039;s population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran! Women are overtaking Iran. They%26#039;re treated very well.They%26#039;re the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities cos they%26#039;re so clever. They get the best jobs cos they can do jobs much better than men.They%26#039;ve got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money according to the law which most husbands cannot afford, so they%26#039;ll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s just because in Iran such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing DJ / pop songs.Anything! I%26#039;ve put a sample here.I feel foolish for sitting here explaining ordinary things to you.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourselves they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was ruled by those freaks (Taliban). When you think of such things, try to think of the racism in your country too.I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that 60% of Iranians are Persian and 30% are Turkish! I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world.There%26#039;s nothing mysterious about it!(The media are very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more educated, intelligent and open-minded than what you think!!! I%26#039;m sure you don%26#039;t know that there are lots and lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don%26#039;t hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. For instance this 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions and there are many many KIDS like that. You don%26#039;t know that Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don%26#039;t the media talk about them? They just can%26#039;t summerise everything in one word %26quot;nuclear%26quot;, although we%26#039;re proud of it cos having nuclear energy means a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and it was signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What did I find instead? %26quot;President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!%26quot;(The same old story!) The media are injustice. They put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they never talk about facts! Some interesting facts:

Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams and holds records in loads of other things! It%26#039;s one of the top countries in these fields: bio-technology and nono-technology.The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link).51 top universities out of the 100 top universities in the Mid-East are in Iran and they%26#039;re among some of the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians and lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in medicine field. And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar =about 950 Tomans!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? And also, Iran is an independant country unlike its neighbouring countries. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn%26#039;t need other countries to survive! The list is endless.

Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working for themselve, lazy in doing their duty well!, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious (sadly majority of the young generation is not), not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable.

Some people think, Iran%26#039;s a desert! lol Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! (You didn%26#039;t expect it to be like that.Right?)

This is a photo of Tehran: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran.Did you know that Iranian pop music was chose as the best pop music in France in 2005? I guess not.All Iranian songs are current pop /Club-Dance/Trance/ DJ music.I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they%26#039;re some of the best songs they%26#039;ve ever heard.

Here%26#039;s a sample of the latest hits.(You didn%26#039;t expect them to be so catchy.Right?) I believe in %26quot;Express yourself through music and that music is a universal language%26quot;.

You can just right click on the links below and choose %26quot;Save Target As%26quot; to download them.They%26#039;re some of the best songs you%26#039;ve ever heard.It%26#039;s nothing like what you expect! And so on and on!

It%26#039;s now 2007 and people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!!!!

See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true.

Let%26#039;s clarify some political issues as well:

Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it%26#039;s said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The media are good at putting comments.It%26#039;s easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don%26#039;t get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it for granted.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it%26#039;s not bad.Is it? (Although what we want them is to not to get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern.) We hate neither Jews nor Americans.I love Americans otherwise why would I talk to them?! How would our guys dream of America, be like them as much as possible and hate it at the same time?! Although ordinary Iranians don%26#039;t care much about world affairs, I%26#039;ve got to say that for us Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?It%26#039;s so funny the way you imagine things and make yourselves believe in your own immaginations! Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.On the contrary, meeting different people would be so interesting for us! I love the Japanese who come here!

I wonder Iran is a threat to whom. Which logical rule admits that it%26#039;s logical to say a country is guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that she%26#039;s going to do something wrong?!!!! And they repeat the same %26quot;nuclear%26quot; tosh over and over and brain wash people! News headlines: %26quot;We won%26#039;t allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons%26quot;!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No.Has it developed any nukes?No!That%26#039;s what nuclear agency says.Only Iran%26#039;s oppositions are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg and what they say is of no credit.It%26#039;s just based on political conflicts. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! This is a modern and innovative form of philosophy and logic!

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he%26#039;s said this at all?You know that it%26#039;s a passive sentence.He%26#039;s never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn%26#039;t talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they could both live in peace.They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it%26#039;s mistranslated intentionally.Iran%26#039;s always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country.

Some say he%26#039;s said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000000 Jews were killed, that%26#039;s so terrible, but those 300000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren%26#039;t important at all! Over 650000 Iraqi people are killed and it%26#039;s not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran%26#039;s 69000000 population within two weeks, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you%26#039;d get the point why he%26#039;s IRONICALLY said it%26#039;s a mith. Moreover, don%26#039;t you believe in freedom of speech/mind?

Obviousely, some countries are using Iran as a victim to put the blame (their own faults) on Iran. And which country is better than Iran to be a victim?They%26#039;ve made the whole world believe that Iran isn%26#039;t a peaceful country and represent false image of Iranians by making insulting movies like %26quot;300%26quot; . Anyone saying that it was not for political reasons is wrong.

I know Americans don%26#039;t like these either, but what can they do?They%26#039;re not responsible for controlling what the media say.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world.

This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says %26quot;Death to America%26quot;: 1.America means the U.S govt not the people 2.The new generation don%26#039;t say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that%26#039;s because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfreids/boyfriends! Strange.Isn%26#039;t it? 3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt%26#039;s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn%26#039;t deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S gov%26#039;t helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It%26#039;s always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It%26#039;s always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc)

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.Firstly, It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and almost a part of history and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy.Aren%26#039;t they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and keeps denying that they%26#039;re diplomats. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom.It%26#039;s exceeded the level of tit for tat.

Isn%26#039;t it better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? The two govts are like 10 year old children playing a game by harsh rhetoric. They don%26#039;t care about hurting people%26#039;s feeling. They just try to show that the people are enemies of each other to achieve their own goals. We as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace.It%26#039;d be marvelous! Would this happen in less than 2 years? You know what I mean!

Remember that: The sea is deeper. You don%26#039;t always have to see the surface of it.

Plz whenever you have time, find and read an article about %26quot;ethnocentrism%26quot;.Knowing the meaning of this term is not enough. After reading about it, you%26#039;ll feel a noticable positive change in your attitude towards different people! Guaranteed!

Thanks for your time.
Reply:I must admit this was pretty long, but you kept me intrigued. I am soon turning 17 and am very interested in world relations and politics. At first, I was scared to believe what you were saying. I don%26#039;t like to be suckered in to what people say, particularly such things as the media. However, as I kept reading, you truly sounded genuine.

I%26#039;ve always wondered what a country%26#039;s citizens thought of another country%26#039;s citizens. I despise the fact that we base our feelings of another country on the people running it. I don%26#039;t know you. You don%26#039;t know me. I have no right to hate you until you do something to me personally.

I do believe that the media here in the U.S. distort what people say, whether they be celebrities or political leaders. I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s right and I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s fair. All Americans aren%26#039;t stupid. All teenagers like myself aren%26#039;t stupid. We non-ignorant Americans can see that there is something wrong with the way foreign relations and domesic issues are handled. I feel sorry for us.

It%26#039;s good to know Iran is much better than what we are told everyday. I feel rather inferior knowing there%26#039;s a kid who%26#039;s created 72 inventions. :-) However, it%26#039;s good to know. I%26#039;m glad to hear about Iran from an Iranian. Maybe I%26#039;ll come visit...
Reply:Actually i changed my mind after reading this . thanks Report It

Reply:The media wants to see Tom Cruise Jumping on Oprahs couch and forgetts about important news. People can talk smack as much as they want about Iran. Tell yourself this, I love Iran, and i know the real truth about Iran, so these comments dont bother the way i fell about it. Well thanks and see ya! Report It

Reply:I don%26#039;t believe what you say. There%26#039;s no freedom in Iran. Even you website says it: Human rights violations include governmental impunity, restricted freedom of speech, gender inequality, treatment of homosexuals, execution of minors, and in some cases torture. Report It

Reply:i agree, i%26#039;m pretty sure that the US is just rattling its saber at Iran and is trying to get the american people behind it. I%26#039;m sure Iran has a lot to offer to the world. if everybody and their religion would just let everybody else live, the world would have a lot more progress, technologically and socially.
Reply:I agree. Media propoganda is used to sway veiwers opinions into believing something so negative about another culture. I believe that most media coverage is a ploy to gain support for war and issues abroad.

Marginilization is a huge issue both here and in other countries and the bottom line is, we do it to eachother. We need more diplomats and people interested in foreign relations to interact with one another and create a better understanding of one another. We%26#039;re really not that different from eachother. Both with common struggles, common issues, a common set of things that make you happy/sad/etc but we speak a different language (nationally, not necessarily you and me). The way I see it, we%26#039;re not that different at all....Just misunderstood.
Reply:I hope to read the entire diatribe later, but for now, pieces of it make sense to me. Yes, all governments are hateful, and yes, peace would be a wonderful thing. I don%26#039;t think many Americans believe that Iranians are bad people. Most of us realize that it%26#039;s just the government that is evil. We don%26#039;t WANT to go to war with Iran. But that doesn%26#039;t mean that it won%26#039;t happen.

Forgetting about past conflicts is ok if there%26#039;s a new way of acting. The concern that most Americans have is that the new government in Iran is the same as the old government in Iran, and these people are dangerous. If Iran had a different government, I think Americans would completely forget about the hostages in 1980. It is a long time ago. But we are also concerned that the same people run the government as took the hostages back then, so we don%26#039;t trust them.

We are at peace with Japan, yet the Japanese once killed thousands of Americans. We are at peace with Germany despite a horrible history. We SHOULD be at peace with Iran, but the Iranian government continues the same threats they did 25 years ago. It is not the U.S. who is most to blame for the bad relations.
Reply:I learned about ethnocentrism in anthropology. It has helped me adapt easily while traveling and when experiencing cultures different than my own. The beauty in the world is found in all of the unique aspects of culture and society, not in assimilation.

Admittedly, I skimmed this for now, because I am in a hurry, but I copied and pasted it to my word processor to read later because I am very interested to hear your point of view. Thank you for sharing.
Reply:Thank you for posting this. Once again it seems the media (and government) has mislead us. When I got to thinking about that article I realized that all the bad things I had heard was about Afghanistan and Iraq. I have never heard anything about Iran but yet I had a bad image of it. In fact, I have only heard great words from your president and I really respect the man. Good luck to you!
Reply:Peddle your propaganda else where. And a hint... keep it brief, putting people to sleep shouldn%26#039;t be your goal.
Reply:Thank you. I was happy to read the thoughts and perspective, of an Iranian. It gives me a lot to think about.
Reply:One problem with American views on Iran is that Americans equate a country%26#039;s figurehead to the people in the country. I would NEVER want someone outside of the U.S. to presume that all Americans are like George W. Bush. Less than 30% of Americans think he is doing a good job as president. While I may have an negative opinion, as I think most Americans do, of the President of Iran, I would never presume that all people in Iran have the same beliefs as the President.

Having the mindset that a country%26#039;s civilians are only an extension of their leaders is what allows mankind to lash out at one another without any thought as to what will happen to the people, infrastructure and culture of a country. It is horrible that in the U.S. we only hear on the news about the number of U.S. soldiers who die in Iraq, but no one brings up the fact that 300,000 Iraqis (many civilians) have died in the war between the U.S. and Iraq.

I really wish that America would build a diplomatic relationship with Iran. I hear there is a wonderful generation of young people who are much more progressive and I fully believe we should embrace these young people and work with them to create peaceful solutions to the problems between the U.S. and Iran.
Reply:well first of all your article was very insightful i did not know half the thing you talked about Iran, I think what makes people have misconceptions about Iran or other countries like Eritrea Is because what the media feeds the out side world, I can say most things that happen around go unknown. Iran is a very resource full country, that is why sadam wanted a piece of the pie and know i think the Americans have interest, lets just hope that they don%26#039;t work on Iran just like how they worked Iraq. Its a crazy worlds all about power and money
Reply:It%26#039;s not all about gov. The CIA does ivestigations along side other countries and they probably find extremist. They ask the gov. to be responsibile for these such ppl and arrest or stop the criminals. these criminals are the ones that the media %26quot;feed on%26quot; they portray them to be what all of one counntry believes. Most Americans any way know this. Iran had a revolution,yes and most change seems to be for the better. Even Bush and his Brittish %26amp; Canadian allies know this! Iran is also recognized as a developed country and does do international research %26amp; development with many nations for the beterment of human-kind. Most easterners do not pay any attention to religion as the US was founded on religious principals. They just no longer think Jews or Christians nor any other religion is important to society and they have become opinioniated of religion! Many Americans have never been to a church Cynagouge or mosque. Me, for instance, as a kid I thought some Europeans wore the scarf or Turbin because they were from countrys that had sand storms and these things protected them.Religion has never been a part of the international community science %26amp; medicine have. By reading all of your opinions, I just think you are a world citizen,but you are defending yourself from a few who tend to %26quot;stereotype%26quot;
Reply:The world media is owned by FOR PROFIT corporations. So you have to ask, what sells better, love and peace or death and war. It%26#039;s the human condition exploited to the very best of the world economy. The independent thinker is being removed from all societies, thats how the media has gained so much influence.

The truth at last!

Of course some Americans will not believe you, not even some of what you have revealed. But one must remember that Americans on the whole, are very easily led and gullible.

Many of us however, are aware of Iran%26quot;s contributions to the region - to the world.

I hope you keep posting, if only to reinforce the fact that most of Iran is now comprised of young, bright, intelligent people who hate no one.

Keep in mind also that not everyone in this country wants war with your country,

Those in the know also recognize the fact that the United States hates to be last. Unfortunately we want to be the first at everything. It started with Sputnik. Then the atom bomb. Then USING the atom bomb. Nothing much has changed. I am a citizen of and was born in the United States. But I have learned - despite that I am younger than Bush%26#039;s daughters - that we don%26#039;t exactly appreciate either that the most intelligent and brightest and educated minds are not birthed in the United States. There is much jealousy you see,

Enough said..

Why are there so many scientific and historical innacuracies in the word of your God?

All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.--Lev.11:20

Arguments cannot be answered by personal abuse.... Should it turn out that I am the worst man in the whole world, the story of the flood will remain just as improbable as before, and the contradictions of the Pentateuch will still demand an explanation. -- Robert Ingersoll, Some Mistakes of Moses

Genesis

The Genesis 1 creation account conflicts with the order of events that are known to science. In Genesis, the earth is created before light and stars, birds and whales before reptiles and insects, and flowering plants before any animals. The true order of events was just the opposite. 1:1-2:3

God creates light and separates light from darkness, and day from night, on the first day. Yet he didn%26#039;t make the light producing objects (the sun and the stars) until the fourth day (1:14-19). And how could there be %26quot;the evening and the morning%26quot; on the first day if there was no sun to mark them? 1:3-5

God spends one-sixth of his entire creative effort (the second day) working on a solid firmament. This strange structure, which God calls heaven, is intended to separate the higher waters from the lower waters. 1:6-8

Plants are made on the third day before there was a sun to drive their photosynthetic processes (1:14-19). 1:11

God lets %26quot;the earth bring forth%26quot; the plants, rather than creating them directly. Maybe Genesis is not so anti-evolution after all. 1:11

In an apparent endorsement of astrology, God places the sun, moon, and stars in the firmament so that they can be used %26quot;for signs%26quot;. This, of course, is exactly what astrologers do: read %26quot;the signs%26quot; in the Zodiac in an effort to predict what will happen on Earth. 1:14

God makes two lights: %26quot;the greater light [the sun] to rule the day, and the lesser light [the moon] to rule the night.%26quot; But the moon is not a light, but only reflects light from the sun. And why, if God made the moon to %26quot;rule the night%26quot;, does it spend half of its time moving through the daytime sky? 1:16

%26quot;He made the stars also.%26quot; God spends a day making light (before making the stars) and separating light from darkness; then, at the end of a hard day%26#039;s work, and almost as an afterthought, he makes the trillions of stars. 1:16

%26quot;And God set them [the stars] in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.%26quot; 1:17

In verse 11, God %26quot;let the earth bring forth%26quot; the plants. Now he has the earth %26quot;bring forth%26quot; the animals as well. So maybe the creationists have it all wrong. Maybe God created livings things through the process of evolution. 1:24

God gave humans dominion over every other living thing on earth. 1:26

God commands us to %26quot;be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over ... every living thing that moveth upon the earth.%26quot; 1:28

%26quot;I have given you every herb ... and every tree ... for meat.%26quot; 1:29

All animals were originally herbivores. Tapeworms, vampire bats, mosquitoes, and barracudas -- all were strict vegetarians, as they were created by God. 1:30

%26quot;God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.%26quot; He purposefully designed a system that ensures the suffering and death of all his creatures, parasite and host, predator and prey. 1:31

In Genesis 1 the entire creation takes 6 days, but the universe is at least 12 billion years old, with new stars constantly being formed. 1:31

Humans were not created instantaneously from dust and breath, but evolved over millions of years from simpler life forms. 2:7

After making the animals, God has Adam name them all. The naming of several million species must have kept Adam busy for a while. 2:18-22

God fashions a woman out of one of Adam%26#039;s ribs.

Because of this story, it was commonly believed (and sometimes it is still said today) that males have one less rib than females. When Vesalius showed in 1543 that the number of ribs was the same in males and females, it created a storm of controversy. 2:19

God curses the serpent. From now on the serpent will crawl on his belly and eat dust. One wonders how he got around before -- by hopping on his tail, perhaps? But snakes don%26#039;t eat dust, do they? 3:14

Because Adam listened to Eve, God cursed the ground and causes thorns and thistles to grow. Before this, according to the (false) Genesis story, plants had no natural defenses. The rose had no thorn, cacti were spineless, holly leaves were smooth, and the nettle had no sting. Foxgloves, oleander, and milkweeds were all perfectly safe to eat. 3:17-18

%26quot;There were giants in the earth in those days.%26quot; Well, I suppose it%26#039;s good to know that. But why is there no archaeological evidence for the existence of these giants? 6:4

Noah is told to make an ark that is 450 feet long. 6:14-15

Whether by twos or by sevens, Noah takes male and female representatives from each species of %26quot;every thing that creepeth upon the earth.%26quot; 7:8

God opens the %26quot;windows of heaven.%26quot; He does this every time it rains. 7:11

All of the animals boarded the ark %26quot;in the selfsame day.%26quot; 7:13-14

The flood covered the highest mountain tops (Mount Everest?) with fifteen cubits to spare. 7:20

%26quot;The windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.%26quot; This happens whenever it stops raining. 8:2

Noah sends a dove out to see if there was any dry land. But the dove returns without finding any. Then, just seven days later, the dove goes out again and returns with an olive leaf. But how could an olive tree survive the flood? And if any seeds happened to survive, they certainly wouldn%26#039;t germinate and grow leaves within a seven day period. 8:8-11

When the animals left the ark, what would they have eaten? There would have been no plants after the ground had been submerged for nearly a year. What would the carnivores have eaten? Whatever prey they ate would have gone extinct. And how did the New World primates or the Australian marsupials find their way back after the flood subsided? 8:19

Noah kills the %26quot;clean beasts%26quot; and burns their dead bodies for God. According to 7:8 this would have caused the extinction of all %26quot;clean%26quot; animals since only two of each were taken onto the ark. 8:20-21

%26quot;Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.%26quot; Although this would have been good advice for the mythical Noah, it is deadly advice for humankind as a whole. Overpopulation is one of our greatest problems, yet there is nothing in the bible to address it. 9:1

According to this verse, all animals fear humans. Although it is true that many do, it is also true that some do not. Sharks and grizzly bears, for example, are generally much less afraid of us than we are of them. 9:2

%26quot;Into your hand are they (the animals) delivered.%26quot; God gave the animals to humans, and they can do whatever they please with them. This verse has been used by bible believers to justify all kinds of cruelty to animals and environmental destruction. 9:2

God is rightly filled with remorse for having killed his creatures. He even puts the rainbow in the sky to remind himself of his promise to the animals not to do it again. But rainbows are caused by the nature of light, the refractive index of water, and the shape of raindrops. There were rainbows billions of years before humans existed. 9:13

Some creationists believe that this verse refers to continental drift, which, they say, began to occur during the days of Pelag (which means %26quot;division%26quot;), about 100 or so years after the flood. But many other creationists disagree. 10:25

%26quot;The whole earth was of one language.%26quot; But this could not be true, since by this time (around 2400 BCE) there were already many languages, each unintelligible to the others. 11:1, 6

God worries that people could build a tower high enough to reach him (them?) in heaven, and that by so doing they will become omnipotent. 11:4-6

According to the Tower of Babel story, the many human languages were created instantaneously by God. But actually the various languages evolved gradually over long periods of time. 11:9

The ridiculously long lives of the patriarchs. 11:10-32

%26quot;And they returned to the land of the Philistines.%26quot; But the Philistines didn%26#039;t arrive in the region of Canaan until around 1200 BCE -- 800 years after Abraham%26#039;s supposed migration from Ur. 21:32, 26:1, 8, 15, 18

Laban learns %26quot;by experience%26quot; that God has blessed him for Jacob%26#039;s sake. %26quot;By experience%26quot; means %26quot;by divination%26quot;, at least that is how most other versions translate this verse. 30:27

Jacob displays his (and God%26#039;s) knowledge of biology by having goats copulate while looking at streaked rods. The result is streaked baby goats. 30:37-39

God (or an angel) praises Jacob for his fancy genetic work in Gen.30:37-39. 31:11-12

Joseph and his magic divining cup. 44:5, 44:15

Exodus

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 16:35

The Israelite population went from 70 (or 75) to several million in a few hundred years. 1:5,7, 12:37, 38:26

Why are some people born with disabilities? Because God deliberately makes them that way. 4:11

God led the Israelites through the land of the Philistines, hundreds of years before the Philistines were established in Canaan. 13:17

%26quot;The manna referred to in the Bible, in Exodus 16:14, seems to have been the dried excrement of Trabutina mannipara, a scale insect that feeds on tamarisk trees.%26quot; Benjamin B. Normark, The Sex Lives of Scales, Natural History, Sept. 2004. 16:14-15

%26quot;In six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them.%26quot;

Believers often say that the %26quot;days%26quot; of creation should be taken allegorically, but this verse is quite clear. God created the universe in six 24 hour days. 20:11

Leviticus

The bible says that hares and coneys are unclean because they %26quot;chew the cud%26quot; but do not part the hoof. But hares and coneys are not ruminants and they do not %26quot;chew the cud.%26quot; 11:5-6

Bats are birds to the biblical God. 11:13, 19

Be sure to watch out for those %26quot;other flying creeping things which have four feet.%26quot; (I wish God wouldn%26#039;t get so technical!) I guess he must mean four-legged insects. You%26#039;d think that since God made the insects, and so many of them (at least several million species), that he would know how many legs they have! 11:23

God%26#039;s law for lepers: Get two birds. Kill one. Dip the live bird in the blood of the dead one. Sprinkle the blood on the leper seven times, and then let the blood-soaked bird fly off. Next find a lamb and kill it. Wipe some of its blood on the patient%26#039;s right ear, thumb, and big toe. Sprinkle seven times with oil and wipe some of the oil on his right ear, thumb and big toe. Repeat. Finally kill a couple doves and offer one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. 14:2-52

Numbers

The Israelite population went from seventy (Ex.1:5) to several million (over 600,000 adult males) in just a few generations! 1:45-46

God sends quails to feed his people until they were %26quot;two cubits [about a meter] high upon the face of the earth.%26quot; Taking the %26quot;face of the earth%26quot; to be a circle with a radius of say 30 kilometers (an approximate day%26#039;s journey), this would amount to 3 trillion (3x1012) liters of quails. At 2 quails per liter, this would provide a couple million quails for each of several million people. 11:31

God strikes Miriam with leprosy. (In the Bible, leprosy is caused by the wrath of God or the malice of Satan.) 12:10

%26quot;And there we saw the giants ... And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.%26quot; This statement may have been figurative, hyperbole, typical biblical exaggeration, or an actual description of the sons of Anak, in which case they must have been about 100 meters tall. These are the same giants (the Nephilium) that resulted when the %26quot;sons of God%26quot; mated with %26quot;the daughters of men in Gen.6:4. Of course these superhuman god-men should have been destroyed in the flood. So what are they doing still alive? 13:33

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 14:33, 32:13

God%26#039;s cure for snakebite: a brass serpent on a pole. 21:8

God has %26quot;the strength of a unicorn.%26quot; Oh heck, I bet he%26#039;s even stronger than a unicorn. 23:22, 24:8

Deuteronomy

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 2:7, 8:2, 29:5

%26quot;A land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time.%26quot; (They must have been much more common back then.) 2:10-11, 20-21

Og, the king of the giants, was a tall man, even by NBA standards. His bed measured 9 by 4 cubits (13.5 feet long and 6 feet wide). 3:11

God promises to cast out seven nations including the Amorites, Canaanites, and the Jebusites. But he was unable to fulfill his promise. These nations were %26quot;greater and mightier%26quot; than the Israelites, who according to Ex.12:37 and Num.1:45-46 already had numbered several million. So the region, according to the bible, must have had a population of more than twenty million! 7:1

This verse mistakenly says that the hare chews its cud. 14:7-8

To the biblical God, a bat is just an another unclean bird. 14:11, 18

%26quot;Their wine is the poison of dragons.%26quot; I wonder what genus and species the bible is referring to when it mentions dragons. 32:33

Joseph%26#039;s %26quot;horns are like the horns of a unicorn.%26quot; 33:17

Joshua

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 5:6

In Joshua 8 the Israelites destroy Ai and make it a desolate heap. But Ai was an abandoned city by the time of the Israelites and this story is a myth invented to explain the ruins of an ancient city that the Israelites encountered. See Archaeology and Biblical Accuracy by Farrell Till. 8:1-29

This verse says that Ai was never again occupied after it was destroyed by Joshua. But Nehemiah (7:32) lists it among the cities of Israel at the time of the Babylonian captivity. 8:28

In a divine type of daylight savings time, God makes the sun stand still so that Joshua can get all his killing done before dark. 10:12-13

%26quot;And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which as of the remnant of the giants....%26quot; 12:4, 18:6

Judges

%26quot;The stars in their courses fought against Sisera.%26quot; Unless astrology is true, how can the stars affect the outcome of a battle? 5:20

%26quot;As the sun ... goeth forth in his might.%26quot; The sun, according to the bible, goes around the earth. 5:31

1 Samuel

%26quot;The pillars of the earth are the LORD%26#039;s, and he hath set the world upon them. 2:8

Goliath was ten feet tall (%26quot;six cubits and a span%26quot;). 17:4

2 Samuel

In what is surely a biblical exaggeration, we are told that %26quot;the servants of David%26quot; killed 20,000 soldiers in one day. And that %26quot;the wood [forest] devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.%26quot; It must have been spooky forest to have devoured more than 20,000 soldiers. There were probably lots of lions and tigers and bears. (Oh my!)18:7-8

The earth shakes, the foundations of heaven move, smoke comes out of God%26#039;s nostrils, and fire out of his mouth. 22:8-16

How many soldiers did Israel have? This verse says that Judah and Israel had a total of 1,300,000 fighting men (1 Chr.21:5 says 1,570,000) in this battle. Of course, this is a ridiculously high number for a battle between two tribal armies in 1000 BCE. (The United States had about 1.37 million active duty soldiers in 2001.) 24:9

1 Kings

This verse implies that the value of p is 3. (The actual value is approximately 3.14159.) 7:23

God creates droughts by causing %26quot;heaven to shut up%26quot; as a punishment for sin. 8:35

Ever the playful spirit, God withers, and then restores, the hand of king Jeroboam. 13:4

2 Kings

Elisha cures a leper, but only after the leper dips himself seven times in the Jordan. 5:14

Elisha not only can cure leprosy, he can also dish it out. Here he makes his servant (Gehazi) and all his descendants lepers forever. 5:27

A dead body is brought to life when it accidentally touches the bones of Elisha. 13:21

Isaiah, with a little help from God, makes the sun move backwards ten degrees. Now that%26#039;s quite a trick. All at once, the earth stopped spinning and then reversed its direction of rotation. Or maybe the sun traveled around the earth in those days! 20:11

1 Chronicles

Some creationists believe that this verse (and Gen.10:25) refers to continental drift, which, they say, began to occur during the days of Pelag (which means %26quot;division%26quot;), about 100 or so years after the flood. 1:19

%26quot;The earth ... shall be stable, that it be not moved.%26quot; It doesn%26#039;t spin on its axis or travel about the sun. 16:30

According to this verse David%26#039;s army had 1,100,000 men from Israel and 470,000 men from Judah, Of course, this numbers is ridiculously high for a battle between two tribal armies in 1000 BCE. (The United States had about 1.37 million active duty soldiers in 2001.) 21:5 David provides Solomon with a fantastically large amount of gold and silver with which to build the temple: 100,000 talents of gold and 1,000,000 talents of silver. Since a talent was about 60 pounds, this would be about 3,000 tons of gold and 30,000 tons of silver. 22:14

King David collects ten thousand drams (or darics) for the construction of the temple in Jerusalem. This is especially interesting since darics were coins named after King Darius I who lived some five hundred years after David. 29:7

As usual, the reported amounts of gold, silver, and iron are grossly exaggerated. (100,000 talents of iron, for example, would be about 34 million kilograms.) 29:7

2 Chronicles

Since the molten sea was round with a diameter of ten cubits and a circumference of thirty cubits, we know that the biblical value of p is 3. (The actual value is approximately 3.14159.) 4:2

Abijah spoke to 1,200,000 soldiers at one time. (He had a really loud voice.) 13:3-4

500,000 soldiers die in a single God-assisted slaughter. 13:16-17

In the largest single God-assisted massacre in the bible, Asa, with God%26#039;s help, kills one million Ethiopians. 14:8-14

Asa, when he had a foot disease, went to physicians instead of seeking the Lord. (God disapproves of those who seek medical help rather than %26quot;seeking the Lord.%26quot;) 16:12

God makes Uzziah a leper for burning incense without a license. 26:19-21

Esther

%26quot;Haman thought in his heart.%26quot; Most people think with their heads, but biblical folks think with their hearts. 6:6

Job

The earth rests upon pillars and doesn%26#039;t move (unless God gets angry or something). 9:6

%26quot;Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not.%26quot;

The earth is fixed and the sun travels about it. 9:7

Heaven is set upon pillars that tremble when God gets mad. 26:11

The earth is set on foundations and it does not move. 38:4-6

God has snow and hail all stored up to use later %26quot;in time of trouble.%26quot; 38:22

God spread out the sky, which is a solid structure, hard and strong like a mirror. 37:18

Ostriches are not cruel and stupid birds who abandon their eggs to die after laying them, as these verses imply. They are, in fact, careful and attentive parents. The male scoops out a hollow for the eggs, which are incubated by the female during the day and the male at night. After the eggs are hatched, they are cared for by the mother for over a month, at which time the chicks can keep up with running adults. 39:13-16

The bible is wrong about ostriches being cruel and inattentive parents (39:13-16). But if they were, whose fault would it be? Why would God deprive them of the tools that are needed to do the job right? 39:17

Bible believers have identified the behemoth as a hippopotamus, dinosaur, wildebeest, or crocodile. But my favorite is the way these verses are translated by Stephen Mitchell: %26quot;Look now: the Beast that I made: he eats grass like a bull. Look: the power in his thighs, the pulsing sinews of his belly. His penis stiffens like a pine; his testicles bulge with vigor.%26quot; 40:15-16

%26quot;Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord?%26quot; 41:1-34

Psalms

The earth shakes whenever God really gets mad. 18:7

%26quot;The foundations of the world were discovered ... at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.%26quot; (The earth is set on firm foundations and does not move -- unless God blows his nose.) 18:15

%26quot;The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.%26quot; 19:1

The sun moves around the earth. 19:4-6

From his seat in heaven, God can see the whole earth and all its inhabitants.

(He sits directly above the earth, which is a flat disc below him.) 33:14-15

Diseases are sent by God to punish sin. 38:3

According to the psalmist, snails melt. But they don%26#039;t, of course, they simply leave a slimy trail as they move along. 58:8

God is so strong that he can break the head of dragons and of leviathan. 74:13-14

God holds the earth up with pillars. 75:3

Another reference to %26quot;the foundations of the earth%26quot;, implying that the earth is fixed and does not move. 82:5

%26quot;Thou hast broken Rahab [the sea monster] in pieces.%26quot; 89:10

%26quot;The world also is established, that it cannot be moved.%26quot; 93:1

%26quot;The world also shall be established that it shall not be moved.%26quot; 96:10

%26quot;The Lord ... who healeth all thy diseases.%26quot; God heals all diseases. Medical science is unnecessary. 103:2-3

%26quot;God ... who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain%26quot; (The earth is stationary and does not orbit the sun.) 104:5

%26quot;In wisdom hast thou made them all.%26quot; 104:24

God is offended by those who make things with their hands or invent things with their minds. 106:39

%26quot;The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.%26quot; Then why do nearly all animals die painful deaths from starvation, predation, or disease long before they reach adulthood? 145:9

God %26quot;satisfiest the desire of every living thing.%26quot; But in nature few needs are met and few desires are satisfied. Life is short, hard, cruel, and painful for nearly every living thing. 145:17

%26quot;He calleth them all by their names.%26quot;

God knows how many stars there are and knows them all by name. That%26#039;s pretty impressive since there are 100 billion or so gallaxies, each containing about 100 billion stars. 147:7

%26quot;Praise him in the firmament of his power.%26quot; 150:1

Ecclesiastes

%26quot;The sun also ariseth%26quot;

Although this verse is interpreted figuratively today, it was taken literally by virtually all Christians until the Copernican revolution, and was used by the Church to condemn Galileo for teaching the heliocentric heresy. 1:5

%26quot;He hath made every thing beautiful.%26quot;

Everything is beautiful in its own way. Parasitic worms, cancer cells, bubonic plague. You just have to look at it from God%26#039;s eyes. 3:11

%26quot;No man can find out the work that God maketh.%26quot;

Science is impossible. We can learn nothing at all about the natural world. 3:11

Isaiah

%26quot;The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb....%26quot; I wonder what will become of the spiders. Will they be more friendly toward flies? And will the parasitic wasps find another way to feed their larvae? Or will they continue to feed off the living bodies of caterpillars? 11:6, 65:25

%26quot;And the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice%26#039; den.%26quot; A cockatrice is a serpent, hatched from a cock%26#039;s egg, that can kill with a glance. They are rare nowadays. 11:8

God will gather up the people of Judea %26quot;from the four corners of the earth.%26quot; In the Bible%26#039;s view, the earth is flat with four corners. 11:12

According to the Bible, the moon produces its own light and the earth does not move. 13:10

When God gets really angry, he causes earthquakes. 13:13

Dragons will live in Babylonian palaces and satyrs will dance there. 13:21-22

Out of the serpent%26#039;s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.%26quot; What ever happened to these fascinating biblical creatures? 14:29

God will turn the earth upside down, knock it off of its foundations, and then shake and bake it until it %26quot;reels to and fro like a drunkard.%26quot; 24:1, 18-20

God will punish the leviathan (%26quot;that crooked serpent%26quot;) with his own sword and will kill the sea dragon. 27:1

Natural disasters (earthquakes, storms, fires, tsunamis) are caused by, and are a sign of, God%26#039;s wrath. 29:7

Among the many strange creatures mentioned in the Bible that no longer seem to exist is the %26quot;fiery flying serpent.%26quot; 30:6

%26quot;The light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold.%26quot; Well, this is one prophecy that will never come true. Since the moon has no light of its own, but only reflects that of the sun, it could never shine like the sun. And the sun will not, at least not while there are humans to see it, shine 7 times as bright as it does now. 30:26

%26quot;And the unicorns shall come down with them.%26quot; 34:7

Dragons and satyrs may not seem real to you, but they did to the author of these verses. 34:13-14

God makes the sun move backwards 10 degrees. Now that%26#039;s a neat trick! 38:8

The earth is a flat disc that God looks down upon from his throne in heaven. 40:22

Even the dragons honor God. 43:20

God cut Rahab (the sea monster) to pieces, wounded the dragon, and dried up the sea. 51:9-10

Bad people hatch poisonous cockatrice eggs. Whoever eats the eggs will die, and when the eggs are crushed a viper hatches out of them. 59:5

%26quot;Neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee.%26quot; Of course the moon doesn%26#039;t give off light, but only reflects the light from the sun. 60:19

Jeremiah

Droughts are punishments from God. 3:3

%26quot;I will send serpents, cockatrices among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you.%26quot; A cockatrice is a serpent, hatched from a cock%26#039;s egg, that can kill with a glance. They are rare nowadays. 8:17

When God gets angry, the earth trembles. (That%26#039;s what causes earthquakes.) 10:10

The wild asses %26quot;snuffed up the wind like dragons.%26quot; 14:6

The earth is set on foundations and does not move. 31:37

Lamentations

Ostriches are not cruel and inattentive parents, as this verse implies. They are, in fact, careful and attentive parents. The male scoops out a hollow for the eggs, which are incubated by the female during the day and the male at night. After the eggs are hatched, they are cared for by the mother for over a month, at which time the chicks can keep up with running adults. 4:3

Ezekiel

%26quot;The firmament ... the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.%26quot; 1:22

The world is flat and has four corners. 7:2

The firmament is over the heads of the cherubim. 10:1

God %26quot;will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.%26quot; To Ezekiel, the sun is just a little light that can be covered with a cloud, and the moon produces its own light. 32:7

Daniel

The third year of the reign of Jehoiakim would be 606 BCE, at which time Nebuchadnezzar was not yet king of Babylon. It was 597 BCE that Nebuchadnezzar invaded Jerusalem for the first time (without actually destroying it). By that time Jehohiakim was dead and his son, Jehoiachin, was ruling. 1:1

The stone became %26quot;a great mountain%26quot; that %26quot;filled the whole earth.%26quot; This could only be possible on a flat, disc-shaped earth. 2:35

Daniel%26#039;s tree is tall enough to be seen from %26quot;the end of all the earth.%26quot; Only on a flat earth would this be possible. 4:10-11, 20

Apparently, the author of Daniel knew of only two Babylonian kings during the period of the exile: Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar, who he wrongly thought was the son of Nebuchadnezzar. But Nebuchadnezzar died in 562 BCE and was succeeded by his son, Awil-Marduk (referred to in the bible as %26quot;Evilmerodach%26quot; [see 2 Kg.25:27 and Jer.52:31]). In 560 BCE, Amel-Marduk was assassinated by his brother-in-law, Nergal-shar-usur. The next and last king of Babylon was Nabonidus who reigned from 556 to 539, when Babylon was conquered by Cyrus. It was Nabonidus, and not Belshazzar, who was the last of the Babylonian kings. Belshazzar was a the son and viceroy of Nabonidus. But he was not a king, and was not the son (or any other relation) of Nebuchadnezzar. 5:2,11,18,22

Darius the Median is a fictitious character whom the author perhaps confused with Darius I of Persia, who came to the throne in 521 BCE, 17 years after the fall of Babylon. The author of Daniel incorrectly makes him the successor of Belshazzar instead of Cyrus. 5:31

To Daniel, the stars are small objects that can fall from the sky and then be %26quot;stamped upon.%26quot; 8:10

%26quot;They ... shall shine as the brightness of the firmament.%26quot; 12:3

Joel

%26quot;The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood.%26quot; These %26quot;signs%26quot; were a lot more impressive before the causes of solar and lunar eclipses were understood. 2:31

Amos

God destroyed the Amorites who were a race of giants as tall as cedars and as strong as oaks. 2:9

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 2:10

Jonah

God makes %26quot;a great fish%26quot; to swallow Jonah. And Jonah stayed in the fish%26#039;s belly for three days and three nights. 1:17

%26quot;Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days%26#039; journey.%26quot; That would make it about 60 miles in diameter -- larger than Los Angeles! 3:3

Micah

The earth is set upon strong foundations and therefore does not move. 6:2

Nahum

Tornadoes, earthquakes, and fires are caused by God and are signs of his anger. 1:5

Habakkuk

%26quot;The sun and moon stood still in their habitation.%26quot; This verse apparently refers to Joshua 10:12-13, where God makes the sun stand still. 3:11

Matthew

When was Jesus born? 2:1

%26quot;The star ... went before them.%26quot;

If the star %26quot;went before them,%26quot; leading them to Bethlehem, then it couldn%26#039;t have been a star or any other astronomical object or event. But Matthew couldn%26#039;t have known that. Everyone at the time thought that stars were just little points of light a short distance above the earth. It%26#039;d be no problem to have one hover above a particular place for a while. 2:9

Herod kills all boys in and around Bethlehem that are two years old and under. Such a massacre would certainly have been noted by contemporary historians. Yet not even Josephus, who documented Herod%26#039;s life in detail, mentioned this event. 2:16

The devil kidnaps Jesus and takes him up to the top of the temple, and then to the top of %26quot;an exceedingly high mountain,%26quot; high enough to see %26quot;all the kingdoms of the world.%26quot; I guess the earth was flat in those days. 4:8

%26quot;Behold the fowls of the air....%26quot; Jesus says that God feeds them. But, if so, he does one hell of a lousy job at it. Most birds die before leaving the nest, and the few who manage to fly soon die painful deaths of starvation, predation, or disease. If God is caring for them, pray that he stays away from you. 6:26

Speaking of the birds, Jesus asks: %26quot;Are ye not much better than they?%26quot; This is meant as a rhetorical question, but the answer is far from obvious to me. I guess to Jesus, though, birds are not worth much compared to humans. So you can do whatever the hell you want with (and to) them. 6:26

According to Matthew, people who cannot speak are possessed by the devil. 9:32-33

Jesus gives his disciples %26quot;power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness.%26quot; 10:1

Jesus tells his disciples to perform all the usual tricks: %26quot;heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out devils.%26quot; 10:8

God is involved in the death of every sparrow. He sees to it that they each die painful deaths of starvation, predation, or disease. But don%26#039;t worry. God will do the same for you. (He thinks that humans are worth much more than sparrows.) 10:29. 31

Jesus casts out a devil from a man who was blind and dumb. (Thos we are unable to see or hear are possessed by devils.) 12:22

Some Christians believe that the natural evil in the world (predators, parasites, pain, death) is due to Satan, not God. 13:28

Jesus is incorrect when he says that the mustard seed is the smallest seed. And since there are no trees in the mustard family, mustard seeds do not grow into %26quot;the greatest of all trees.%26quot; 13:31-32

Jesus cures an epileptic %26quot;lunatic%26quot; by %26quot;rebuking the devil.%26quot; (Epilepsy is caused by devils.) 17:15-18

%26quot;The moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven.%26quot; Apparently, Jesus believed that the moon produces its own light, and that the stars are lights held in place by a firmament only a few miles above our heads. 24:29

Jesus believed that Noah%26#039;s flood actually happened. 24:37

When Jesus was crucified, there was three hours of complete darkness %26quot;over all the land.%26quot; And when he died, there was a great earthquake with many corpses walking the streets of Jerusalem. It is strange that there is no record of any of these extraordinary events outside of the gospels. 27:45, 51-53

Mark

Jesus is incorrect when he says that the mustard seed is the smallest seed. (The smallest seeds are found among the tropical, epiphytic orchids.) 4:31

%26quot;Thy faith hath made thee whole.%26quot; If you have enough faith, you will never get sick. (Illness is caused by sin and lack of faith. Medical science is unnecessary.) 5:34

Jesus heals a boy with %26quot;a dumb spirit%26quot; by saying, %26quot;Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him and enter no more into him.%26quot; (Sounds like a script from Monty Python, doesn%26#039;t it?) But how could a deaf spirit hear the words spoken to it? And how could a dumb spirit cry out? 9:17, 25-26

%26quot;But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.%26quot;

Jesus believed that sex and Adam and Eve were created %26quot;from the beginning.%26quot; But the universe is about 13.6 billion years old, the earth 4.6 billion, sex a billion years or so, and humans (depending on how you define %26quot;human%26quot;) for a couple million years. 10:6

%26quot;In those days ... the moon shall not give her light, and the stars of heaven shall fall.%26quot; Of course this is nonsense. The billions of stars will never fall to earth and the moon does not produce its own light. 13:24-25

When Jesus was crucified, there was three hours of complete darkness %26quot;over the whole land.%26quot; It is strange that there is no record of this extraordinary event outside of the gospels. 15:33

Luke

When was Jesus born? 2:1

The devil takes Jesus to the top of a mountain and shows him %26quot;all the kingdoms of the world.%26quot; I guess the world was flat in those days. 4:5

Epilepsy is caused by devils. 9:39

People who cannot speak are possessed with devils. 11:14

Illnesses are caused by Satan. 13:11-16

Jesus believed the story of Noah%26#039;s ark. 17:26-27

Jesus also believes the story about Sodom%26#039;s destruction. He says, %26quot;even thus shall it be in the day the son of man is revealed.%26quot; This tells us about Jesus%26#039; knowledge of science and history. 17:29-32

%26quot;And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars.%26quot; 21:25

When Jesus was crucified, there was three hours of complete darkness %26quot;over all the earth.%26quot; It is strange that there is no record of this extraordinary event outside of the gospels. 23:44-45

John

%26quot;These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.%26quot; But no such site is known in history. Some translations (ASV, NAB, NIV, RSV, NRSV) rename Bethabara as Bethany, but Bethany is a suburb of Jerusalem and, therefore, not %26quot;beyond the Jordan.%26quot; 1:28

%26quot;If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?%26quot;

Good question, Jesus! He was wrong about creation in Mk.10:6, wrong about the flood in Lk.17:26-27, and wrong about the smallest seed in Mt.13:31-32. So why would anyone believe him when he talks about heaven in Jn.3:16? 3:12

Whoever enters a pool after it is stirred up by angels will be cured of %26quot;whatsoever disease he had.%26quot; 5:4

Jesus believes people are crippled by God as a punishment for sin. He tells a crippled man, after healing him, to %26quot;sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.%26quot; 5:14

The disciples ask Jesus about the cause of a man%26#039;s blindness. Was it because he or his parents sinned? Jesus said neither had sinned. The man was born blind so that Jesus could show off his powers by curing him of his blindness. 9:1-3

A blind man%26#039;s sight is restored by washing in the pool of Siloam. 9:7

Acts

%26quot;Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?%26quot;

This verse was used by a Dominican friar to discourage the use of Galileo%26#039;s telescope. (Notice the pun on Galileo%26#039;s name in %26quot;men of Galilee%26quot;.) 1:11

The prophets have spoken %26quot;since the world began,%26quot; which means that humans have been around since the creation of the world. But humans are recent arrivals on an ancient earth. There were no prophets when the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago. 3:21

The sick were healed just by touching the shadow of Peter. 5:15-16

It took the Israelites 40 years to travel from Egypt to Canaan, yet such a journey, even at that time, would have taken no more than ten days. 7:36, 13:18

Sick people are oppressed by the devil. 10:38

Sick people were cured by touching the handkerchief or apron of Paul. And the evil spirits when out of them.%26quot; 19:12

Paul is bitten by a poisonous snake and yet lives. The %26quot;barbarians%26quot; who were shipwrecked with him thought he must be a murderer since he was bitten; but then they changed their minds and thought him to be a god since he didn%26#039;t die. (The snake story is especially interesting since there are no poisonous snakes on Malta, and there is no evidence of their existence in the past.) 28:3-8

Romans

The existence and nature of God are self-evident. 1:20

The Religious Right often uses Romans 1:21-25 to condemn environmentalists. 1:21-25

Paul claims that before Adam sinned death did not exist. But, of course, death didn%26#039;t enter the world a few thousand years ago because of Adam%26#039;s sin. Death has been a part of life since life first arose (on this planet, at least) a few billion years ago. 5:12

Paul says that everyone, even in his day, had the gospel preached to them. Even the Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders? 10:18

1 Corinthians

Paul shows his ignorance (and God%26#039;s) of biology by saying that only dead seeds will germinate. Actually, a seed must be alive to germinate. 15:36

%26quot;All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another of beasts.%26quot;

This verse is used by Creationists to argue against both evolution and any attempt to create %26quot;human-animal hybrids%26quot; or %26quot;chimeras.%26quot; 15:39

%26quot;The first man Adam%26quot;

Young Earth Creationists use this verse to support a literal reading of Genesis. %26quot;If we cannot believe in the First Adam, why believe in the Last [Christ]?%26quot; 15:45

%26quot;And afterward that which is spiritual.%26quot;

Asa Gray, the foremost American botanist in the 19th century and close friend of Charles Darwin, used this verse to support the idea that the Bible is not inconsistent with human evolution. 15:46

2 Corinthians

%26quot;As the serpent beguiled Eve%26quot;

Young Earth Creationists use this verse to show that Paul believed the creation story in Gen.3:1-6. 11:3

Ephesians

Satan is the %26quot;prince of the power of the air.%26quot; Until modern times Christians believed that Satan was responsible for storms and droughts. 2:2

Colossians

%26quot;For by him were all things created.... All things were created by him, and for him.... And by him all things consist.%26quot; Including guinea worms? 1:16-17

1 Timothy

%26quot;For Adam was first formed, then Eve.%26quot; Young Earth Creationists use this verse to show that Paul believed the creation story in Gen.2:18-22. 2:13

Avoid science, especially that which disagrees with Paul (%26quot;science falsely so called%26quot;). Other versions translate this phrase as %26quot;false knowledge%26quot;, which may be more correct. However many fundamentalist Christians still use this verse (%26quot;science falsely so called%26quot;) to justify their rejection of any idea, scientific or otherwise, they believe contradicts the bible. 6:20

Hebrews

God set the earth on a foundation; therefore, it does not move. 1:10

James

James says that, even in his day, all beasts, birds, serpents, and sea creatures had been tamed by humans. 3:7

If you are sick, rely on the power of prayer. It works every time. 5:14-15

By praying, Elias was able to keep it from raining for three and a half years. 5:17

2 Peter

Those who disbelieve in the Bible%26#039;s creation and flood stories are %26quot;willingly ignorant.%26quot; 3:5

%26quot;God ... spared not the old world, but saved Noah.%26quot;

Young Earth Creationists use this verse to show that the New Testament authors believed in the flood story. (So you should too.) 2:4-5

Revelation

%26quot;Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.%26quot; This could only happen on a flat earth. 1:7

Jesus holds seven stars in his hand. Of course, it is possible that this is metaphorical. Perhaps. But it is clear from other verses (6:13, 8:10, 12:4) that John thought of stars as being small, perhaps even small enough for Jesus to hold in his hand. 1:16

%26quot;Thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.%26quot; God created predators, pathogens, and predators for his very own pleasure. One of his favorite species is guinea worms. 4:11

The sixth seal is opened and there is a great earthquake, the sun becomes black, and the moon red, the stars fall from heaven, and mountains and islands move around. 6:12-14

%26quot;And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth....%26quot; To John, the stars are just little lights a few miles away that can easily fall to the earth. 6:13

John %26quot;saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth.%26quot; Well, I guess that settles it: the earth is flat and square-shaped, or at least quadrilateral in shape. 7:1

An angel threw the censer down to earth, causing thunder, lightning, and earthquakes. 8:5

%26quot;And there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters.%26quot; In the bible, stars are just little lights that can fall to the ground from the sky. 8:10

The fourth trumpet smites one third of the sun, moon, and stars. 8:12

%26quot;I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth.%26quot; 9:1

God%26#039;s witnesses have special powers. They can shut up heaven so that it cannot rain, turn rivers into blood, and smite the earth with plagues %26quot;as often as they will.%26quot; 11:6

The dragon%26#039;s tail smacks down to earth one third of the stars. To the author of Revelation, the stars are just little lights that can fall to the ground from the sky. 12:4

Reply:If Creationists and Literalists didn%26#039;t set the tone for this attitude by telling us that every word is a precise and accurate account of fact, I don%26#039;t think there would be nearly as much of this overboard effort to point out every bit of illogic and inconsistency Report It

Reply:Dang, thats long. But I disagree with you, this world tries to say that the Bible is inacurate, but all that it said would happen, has happend! And all that it said happend, we have found evedence for, or are in the process of finding it. Yet their is practically no evidence for evolution, they have to change things periodically, just for things to work with their theory, since it IS a theory guys, not fact as your Biology teachers may tell you.

Okay look, did you actually read the Bible? Or are they exerpts from some book that you read that says %26quot; 100 ways to trying to disprove the Bible!%26quot; when they only take bits and pieces of the book and, after all, if you take bits and pieces of any book, you can make it say whatever you want it to say.

Don%26#039;t take a scientist word for it, read the Bible for yourself! You may learn that their wrong, or they could be right, go find out.
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry about it. If your right what any of us believe won%26#039;t matter in a million years. If you are right then we are all irrelevant, and what I believe and what you believe doesn%26#039;t matter. So why concern yourself? Go outside, look at the stars and think about how small you really are. God loves you.
Reply:Because it was a great story written by an average man who was very charismatic. If you read the book from beginning to end like a Stephen King novel, it%26#039;s really a great read. It%26#039;s got it all, sex, murder, joy, sadness, action, war and even magik. Man this book has it all, but you can%26#039;t take it too seriously.
Reply:Whew鈥?why the need to point out the discrepancies? If you spent all that time, energy, and effort teaching yourself instead of teaching others鈥?you might find Love and just Who Love is. Hebrews 8:10

Reply:There are many many things about the Bible I don%26#039;t understand. That doesn%26#039;t make them not true. I don%26#039;t understand Algebra or a lot of mathematics after addition and subtraction but that doesn%26#039;t mean they have no basis in truth.

For example: let%26#039;s say you have this disease and from all your research you know it can do such and such things, OK? So one day you come down with these other symptoms that aren%26#039;t as far as you know related to your disease. So what do you do? You go to a Dr. A professional. A specialist. Someone who has studied your particular disease. You ask questions and get answers.

If there are things about the Bible you don%26#039;t understand, then go speak to a professional. Someone who has studied this particular passage and can give you the answers you seek instead of just sitting there and complaining about it.

A pastor, minister or reverend, is just that professional. A specialist in the Bible. Someone who has studied and understands all the so called %26quot;inconsistencies%26quot;

As I have stated, there are many many things I don%26#039;t understand. That doen%26#039;st stop me from believing.
Reply:Consider it the power of naming and perspective. People explain things based on what they know and have experienced. No religion or person (in my opinion) has the answers to everything. Some of the things you %26quot;quote%26quot; might have been written in context of what were cultural norms at the time it was written. Some people may consider you are arrogant and others may just think you are curious and want to know. Most times things change the more we know about them. Some people don%26#039;t want to know and for things not to change. Change can be scary or it can be exhilarating. We each have to decide for our selves.

%26quot;Hasn%26#039;t the Bible been rewritten so many times that we can%26#039;t trust it anymore?%26quot;

Reply:The bible was written by educated men of their time trying to keep the populace in line by parables and stories. The people who wrote the Old Test. wrote terrible stories to keep people in line by the threat of God%26#039;s punishment. The new testament was put together 200 yrs after Christ with some writings of the apostles and has been translated and retranslated many times and even slanted at times to conform to whatever regulations the Church put into place. That is why the Bible should not be taken literally. It is not a scientific document but a spiritual teaching document. You must remember that most people of the time were iliterate and creating stories to explain religion was the only means the members of early Christianity had. They believed in Christ as God and wanted to document it and spread the word. If they came back today and were educated I bet they%26#039;d be very surprised at what it now says and that people take it literally.
