This is too short for talking about the facts, but too long for YA.What do you think?

359>Some people may like this.You%26#039;re not gonna find this information anywhere else.I%26#039;m uncovering the secrets!

Special thanks to my American friend who helped me proofread my writing.

I believe that if you spend 5-10 minutes reading this essay, you will be better informed than if you listen to a lifetime%26#039;s worth of Major Media news. I%26#039;ve just turned 19 and I%26#039;m a university student studying English who just cannot sit back and let the lies fly unchallenged.

This article has two parts:

1. Cultural and general info

2. Political info.

Note: I%26#039;ve explained all the things that you always talk about, so read it all plz! (Anytime you like!) Specially the political part! Any answers before reading the whole thing will prove to be wrong.

****

Hi. I%26#039;m an Iranian who has spent his life in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I am shocked to see how totally wrong their ideas are about Iran. I wrote this article in an attempt to help correct those ideas.

The first thing America, and the West in general, accuses our government of is that we don%26#039;t allow personal freedoms. Actually, Iranians disobey laws they don%26#039;t like as much as anyone. But come on, there are only a few restrictions.It%26#039;s cool over here. People here do whatever they wish to! Many strict rules in other countries don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. That%26#039;s why you don%26#039;t understand a few of Iran%26#039;s laws because some of them are based on our culture. You look at our country from %26quot;your own point of view%26quot;! In Iran every single house has a sattelite dish. Sattelite television has a serious influence on our people, and Iranians wear very fashionable clothing. Maybe it is a kind of imitation, but we still have our own unique Iranian style (I%26#039;m talking about public places, in our privacy there%26#039;s no difference). A visitor might wonder if this is a country or a fantasy pageant of beauty queens! Almost women wear half their their hair out, and make-up and fashionable clothing are everywhere.(I ignore a few fuddy-duddies though!) Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmetics. You would be surprised to see the difference between what you imagine and what Iran really is!

In my view, everything is great, if you ignore unemployment, inflation and air pollution. They%26#039;re common problems around the world today! Also, you can%26#039;t compare Iran today with the Iran you remember. The Shah and the Iatollah Khomini are both some 30 years in the past! 70% of Iran%26#039;s population is a new generation (Under age 30) without the biases of the past and we%26#039;ve transformed everything.

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place. But that%26#039;s not a bad thing. They%26#039;re very respectful, and they%26#039;ve been the winners in so many cases: They get into the best universities because they%26#039;re very smart. And they get the best jobs because they can do so many of them better than men. They%26#039;ve got Islamic rights, and that has in some cases made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands are supposed to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women have the right to ask a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law, which most husbands cannot afford, so men will be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that%26#039;s because such places are full of cheeky guys. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing pop songs.Anything! I%26#039;ve put a sample here. I feel foolish for sitting here explaining ordinary things to you.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery. Have you ever asked yourselves how many years ago that footage related to? Are they balck and white or colourful? But in one case (related to many years ago) the thing that had happened was incest not adultery. We think being punished for corruption is good, as it deters people from doing that and the society will be far healthier than the countries in which commiting such things is considered to be normal! For your information, most of those footages are from Afghanistan which was ruled by freaks (Taliban). What exactly makes you think women are treated differently? The way they were/are treated in Saudi Arabia? Try to think of the racism in your country too. There%26#039;s no perfect country!

Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are --------- SEPERATE COUNTRIES! --------- Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! Iran is a normal country like any other in the world. The point is, there%26#039;s nothing mysterious about us! The Media are very good at creating really scary stuff: %26quot;IRAN BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!!%26quot; %26quot;IRAN UNDERCOVER!!!%26quot; Some of that garbage would be enough to scare ME away! But in truth, Iranians are far more open-minded than you have been led to believe.

There are lots of Iranians today who are geniuses and scientists, and are all under age 25. For instance a 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions. Every year a special scientific compeition is held here and students assemble to show off hundreds of inventions. Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different competitions in the world all the time, in robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don%26#039;t the Media talk about them? Please don%26#039;t summarize our nation and culture with the single word %26quot;nuclear%26quot;. Although we%26#039;re proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it.The Media are unjust. They never talk about facts!

Some interesting facts:

Iran is a pioneer in medicine and genetics, and Iranian surgeons have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects, and many diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgeons are Iranian. The head of the Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian. Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering. Holds the second place in building dams and in loads of other things! It%26#039;s one of the top countries in bio-technology and nano-technology. The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (visit it at this link from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Milad... ). 51 of the top 100 universities in the Mid-East are in Iran, and they%26#039;re among the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter, a woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians. Lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in the field of medicine. Iranian girls are famous for being terrific. We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets, artists and scientists that are world famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (one Dollar =about 950 Tomans! For example you can buy windows vista for 1 Dollar here instead of 700 Dollars!!! or 3 supper pizzas for 10 Dollars!!!wow!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran has nearly all the industries and technologies found in %26#039;developed%26#039; countries. Oh, and we have four seasons! (Some people think it never snows here! We get a lot of snow and there are skating rinks! lol) The list is endless.

News: %26quot;Iranian scientists managed to make human teeth grow after you%26#039;ve lost them using basic cells%26quot; I%26#039;m gonna introduce Iran%26#039;s international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It%26#039;s fully in English. In the %26quot;Sic / Tech%26quot; section you%26#039;ll always see Iran%26#039;s discoveries. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx... Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Some charactristics of Iranians would be:

Negative: We are proud, greedy, hard-working (for ourselves), not punctual, impatient, and lazy at doing our duty well, crazy about luxuries and thus extravagant! Highly competitive and ambitious.

Positive: intelligent, a bit idealistic, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly, hospitable.

Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California, New Mexico, Utah, Arkansas, and Alabama a desert. We share the same latitude. Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! This is a photo of Tehran (Awesome, Isn%26#039;t it?): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. Did you know that Iranian music was chosen as the best pop in France in 2005? All Iranian songs are current pop / DJ music. I send Iranian music to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they%26#039;re some of the best songs they%26#039;ve ever heard.

Here%26#039;s a sample of the latest hits from two official Iranian music websites. You can just right click on the links below and choose %26quot;Save Target As%26quot; to download them.I guess you%26#039;ll fall for it! And so on and on!

It%26#039;s now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!

Let%26#039;s clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans think that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The Media are good at putting lying comments out there. I really don%26#039;t get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us. For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it against Iran. For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without refering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that. No sane person would take such nonsense at face value.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it%26#039;s not bad, is it? (Although what we want from them is to shut up and not get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern) We hate neither Jews nor Americans. I love Americans, otherwise why would I talk to them?! How would our guys dream of America, want to be like them as much as possible, and hate them at the same time?! SECRET: Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American! Being agaisnt the U.S policies is a different story!I%26#039;ve got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov%26#039;t. Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Muslim knocking at your door asking you to do so?

Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us. In Iran, religion is one of the least important factors. Where you come from and what your religion is are not important to us at all.

I wonder who Iran is really a threat to. Is it logical to say someone%26#039;s guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he%26#039;s going to do something wrong? And they repeat the same %26quot;nuclear weapons%26quot; tosh over and over and brainwash people! Correction! It%26#039;s %26quot;nuclear energy%26quot;. Besides, how many %26quot;nuclear weapons%26quot; do they have themselves? Hundreds of thousands? Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No. Has it developed any nukes? No! That%26#039;s what nuclear agency says. Only Iran%26#039;s opponents are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg and what they say is of no credit. It%26#039;s just based on political conflicts. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Saddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relations with all of them.

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! (I wish he could just shut up!)But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he%26#039;s said this at all? You know that it%26#039;s a passive sentence. He%26#039;s never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn%26#039;t talking about destroying Israel at all. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they could both live in peace. They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it%26#039;s mistranslated intentionally. Iran has always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country.

Some say he%26#039;s said: %26quot;The Holocaust is a myth!%26quot; Again, this is a single phrase taken from a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so. If 6,000,000 Jews were killed, that%26#039;s terrible, but 300,000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren%26#039;t important at all? Over 650,000 Iraqi people are killed and that%26#039;s not important?! When Fox News simply says that America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing Iran%26#039;s population of 69,000,000 within two weeks, it%26#039;s OK and no one says they%26#039;re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nagasaki and the Vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you%26#039;d get the point why he%26#039;s IRONICALLY said it%26#039;s a myth. Moreover, don%26#039;t you believe in freedom of speech/mind? I%26#039;d judge people by their ACTIONS rather than by what they say / their religion / race / culture and the colour of their skin!

Obviously, some countries are using Iran as a scapegoat to put the blame (for their own faults) on. And what country is better than Iran to be a scapegoat? The whole world believes that Iran isn%26#039;t a peaceful country.

This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says %26quot;Death to America%26quot;:

1. %26#039;America%26#039; to us means the U.S govt, not the people. How do you expect Iranians to mean %26quot;American people%26quot; when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up %26quot;no war%26quot; placards?!

2. The new generation don%26#039;t say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that%26#039;s because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfriends/boyfriends! Strange. Isn%26#039;t it?

3. Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt%26#039;s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn%26#039;t deny that attacking countries is a mistake. right?)

4. The U.S gov%26#039;t helped Saddam attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians.

5. America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason.

6. America places sanctions on Iran, promotes a false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away, and harms our economy, development and credit. To what purpose?

When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he%26#039;s said, what do you call Bush for his actions? I mean it%26#039;s a good idea to consider what Bush is doing to the world with his wrong decisions and lies. Bush is powerful and influencial, but Ahmadinejad is nothing.He%26#039;s even failed to control the inflation.

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days:

1. Firstly, It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and it%26#039;s almost a part of history, and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be chaos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy. Aren%26#039;t they?

2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and had tortured the one who was freed. Poor British sailors were detained by the English gov%26#039;t just for saying that they were treated well in Iran and that Iranians were logical people (They said these when they were on England%26#039;s soil!) They were PREVENTED from releasing their memoirs by England! Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. How do you believe in their lies about politics when they hide both the most and the least important things from you considering the fact that politics is the world of lies in its nature?!!! Considering all this, you%26#039;d probably be able to GUESS what percentage of what they tell you about the Mid-East, Islam, Moslems and other things is true!!! lol Some answerers still confuse Iraq and Iran after reading all this! You are in Iraq not in Iran! They%26#039;re separate countries!

Isn%26#039;t it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov%26#039;ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. (We hate them both!) They don%26#039;t care about hurting people%26#039;s feelings. They just try to make our two peoples enemies to achieve their own goals. We, as the people of these countries, MUST NOT allow these conflics into our hearts. You know something? All govt%26#039;s are hateful. I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about the taking of the 444 hostages while I keep silence. Now, what do you think? I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace. It%26#039;d be marvelous! They%26#039;ve started to have diplomatic talks! That%26#039;s great!

A lovely American told me: %26quot;Having had the wonderful opportunity to visit your country enabled me to see for myself how wonderful the Iranian people are and to learn about your history, your culture, your cuisine, music, films, dance, sacred sites, your medical accomplishments...all your beauty. I am so sorry my country%26#039;s government seems to delight in trying to bully Iran. Worst of all are the lies told. I know enough about your country to be able to discern when the propaganda machine here is operating. I just wish more Americans traveled and could see for themselves what I have seen. By the way, I traveled to Iran under the auspices of The Friendship Force, an organization started by Pres. Carter to promote peace through one-on-one friendship, a mission I take seriously. Thank you for your wonderful essay on Iran.%26quot;

BTW, make sure you visit the links I%26#039;ve put up for you.They%26#039;re all from trusted websites. There are some really nice stuff there!

Thanks for your time
Reply:The links still suck and you still fail to document any source for the facts you show. I want to say that it is very informative and people should read the whole thing. Keep posting the question. I think people should have the facts. The company that has the cure for AIDS should be mentioned. Show plans for the power plants give the specifics to support the essay. It is more like a manifesto at this point.
Reply:wow, incredible compilation

Why do ppl never really take pretty girls seriously as a person?

358>It seems like everytime I%26#039;m down someone tells me I shouldn%26#039;t be since I%26#039;m %26quot;too pretty%26quot; and they say the same about taking anti depressants. like my looks saves me sadness and life%26#039;s obsticles. I was once talking to my bestfriend a few weeks ago, because I was worried about cancer they found on me and worried that I had to get a hysterectomy at 19. she told me to cheer up, because I%26#039;m the %26quot;pretty one%26quot;.

Guys only seem to want me for one thing only,(and no I don%26#039;t give it to them) I never seem to be the girl they wanna get serious with me, and when I do have a bf, he either keeps thinking I have other guys, when all I do is show them how much I care and that I%26#039;m not like that or I%26#039;ve been lead on just for the sex, and I usually see them with an unatractive girl not long after that. plus ppl usually assume me as dumb.

I%26#039;m not a snob that only thinks she has it bad.

No, I%26#039;d this down to earth zen practicer that really has had a ****** up life. what should I do to be seen on the inside?
Reply:I know a very good looking woman who is the manager of a real estate office and she does really well and is well respected by all for her knowledge.

The whole thing here is that people don%26#039;t think that beautiful people are dumb, it%26#039;s just that beautiful people have to prove that they%26#039;re smart. But it%26#039;s easy since they just have to do some really smart things or make some really smart observations and from then on they are cute and smart.

The best way for you to show people who you are is to be yourself.

Concentrate on the positive things in your life and only see the good in everyone and soon you will feel better about yourself and once you can be your OWN best friend you%26#039;ll be able to be other people%26#039;s best friend.

Don%26#039;t act needy. Try to be aloof but in a good way. Don%26#039;t hang on people. Don%26#039;t suffocate people. Be free and be INDEPENDENT. Be YOURSELF. If people don%26#039;t like you for who you are find the ones who do.

Perhaps you need to hang out in a different environment. Find new friends. Or hang out in areas where you would LIKE to be accepted or fit in. If you see a cute guy at a restaurant and he smiles at you, don%26#039;t dive your head into the menu, smile back. Be carefree, debonair, and above all, be yourself.

Be prepared for the %26quot;give and take%26quot;. If he wants you to go to a football game tell him that%26#039;s cool as long as he%26#039;ll go to the opera, movie, or play, or whatever ... with you. If he agrees and smiles about it you may have a friend for life. Most of us guys don%26#039;t want to be worshipped we just want to be accepted and we want to have fun with someone. We want someone who can run in the rain with us and not freak about a chipped nail, and maybe someone who can swig down a mug of beer at the bar and perhaps be able to play pool. First, be one of the guys and move up from there. Guys are looking for woman who are COOL and calm and relaxed. Convince him that you have a brain along with a set of happiness and engage him in some uplifting conversation. Who knows. The guy might be a dolt and then you can move on and find someone at the library in the Quantum Physics section, or attend a Wiccan ceremony. In other words, try to be open minded and don%26#039;t limit yourself. Have fun, be free, and don%26#039;t give it up until he can%26#039;t live without you or he will run like a rabbit just after you do the rabbit thing with him. Make sure you have him hooked and he has stars in his eyes before you let him in on your pajama party.

P.S. one of the biggest causes of cancer according to a Dr. in the American Journal of Medicine back in 1935 is acidic buildup. Balance your pH level and all sorts of things will disappear and straighten out. The calcium from Japan is considered the best. Get a test strip that measures your acid level ... the same test strips they use for swimming pools ... or buy a roll from swansonvitamins.com for about $3 and use it. Keep taking calcium and eat less acidic foods and keep lowering your acid levels until they balance out at the middle. There are tea%26#039;s that will also help and breaks the monotony.

Don%26#039;t worry about what other people say and think. Do what makes YOU feel good. But balance out the pH to get rid of the danger of cancer. Also, you can take natural herbs from Brazil that are adaptogens. They basically adapt to MOST situations and keep your body regulated and balanced. My favorites are Suma, pau d%26#039;Arco, and Astragalus. I%26#039;ve heard rumors that you CAN%26#039;T get cancer when you take Astragalus but I%26#039;m not a firm believer in the word %26quot;can%26#039;t%26quot; b/c that will get your hopes up too high and you should always be aware of your surroundings and everything in your immediate environment.

I think this all boils down to YOU GOTTA TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOURSELF, girlfriend.

I haven%26#039;t read it yet but there is a book that supposedly will let you in on all the secrets of the ages and it%26#039;s called ... The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. It should prop you up and make you happy about yourself. The other book that I liked is Living in the NOW. Both of these will tell you what%26#039;s important in life and what really is not.

RE-align yourself and get balanced.

Just my humble opinion.

Good luck.

and remember EVERYONE has their ups and downs ... cute, ugly, good looking, bad looking, tall, short ... and when things are really good you KNOW that the opposite is just around the corner so prepare for it and be ready for it and when it comes you won%26#039;t be bothered half as much by it if you%26#039;re prepared.

Is being a teenage mom all that you expected it to be? (teen moms only please)?

357>im 16 and 1/2 and i%26#039;ve been contimplating for a while now about wanting to get pregnant. i lost my dad and little brother in a boat accident when I was almost 13, my mom is slowly dying for a rare breast cancer, my older brother is never around and I dont care much to keep him as a brother (for reasons better kept to myself). anyways I feel as if I have no family. I%26#039;m highly depressed and on anti-depressents. I feel as if i want a family of my own. I want someone to care for. I will be inheriting money when I turn 18, and I%26#039;m sure I can get it sooner expecially if I%26#039;m pregnant. Now the only downside to getting pregnant at this age is that I want to become a famous actress, and I can only imagine how the world would respond. I%26#039;ve been through alot in my life and I thought maybe getting pregnant would help me out. We have a program at school for parenting teens (like a day-care program). I also have a friend in the program that I talk to about all this. What do you think I sould do?
Reply:I don%26#039;t want to be mean but I don%26#039;t think you really have any idea how much work and stress a child will bring into your life. It will not help you out- you%26#039;ll be sleep deprived, no family around really to help you out with caring for the baby, plus hormones and stuff from being pregnant can make you even more depressed. Your friends might think the baby was cute for a little bit but your life will be completely different from most of your friends so after a while you%26#039;ll see less and less of them- they%26#039;ll be going out and you%26#039;ll be home with your baby trying to get it to stop crying %26amp; get to sleep.

Then after high school, you%26#039;ll have to deal with being a single mom, trying to go to college/acting classes/auditions when your kid is sick or the baby sitter doesn%26#039;t show up or its a daycare holiday or something. You don%26#039;t mention a boyfriend/dad for the baby, but overall not that many teen dads stick around long after the baby is born, and those that do tend not to be terribly helpful from the girls I know.

I think that your idea is pretty common but it isn%26#039;t very realistic. Some of my friends in high school ( I went to same kind of school as yours junior/senior years) had their babies for the same reasons you had and they all regretted doing it so young. Not that they would send their kids back or anything :), but we did talk about that stuff a lot in parenting classes, etc and I think everyone pretty much agreed they wished they%26#039;d waited until they were a lot older.

Also, I think it might actually worsen your depression. Not just the stress of raising a child, but also the hormones from pregnancy can make many women very depressed. I think that is worse if you are already depressed and most anti depressants are dangerous for the baby, they can cause serious health problems and birth defects. You would probably have to go off of them and risk worsening your depression or take the risk of causing problems for your baby. If you do try to get pregnant (which I don%26#039;t recommend) please at least talk to your doctor/psychologist about that and see about switching medications or dosages to lower the risks.
Reply:Dont get pg you need to live your life I know that you have been thourgh alot and i am so sorry about that but I think that you should wait. get you career together and then think about getting pg. I know that you feel alone but It will get better If you feel this way you should talk to someone a teacher a friend or see a doc Good luck
Reply:dont be stupid, graduate from school, get a good job, meet a nice guy and make your happy family that way being a mum is hard, being a teen mum is harder, at a young age you%26#039;ll want to rely heavily on family and friends for support, youre mum sounds like she needs your help and doesnt need anything more to worry about. stop being selfish. (I%26#039;m highly depressed and on anti-depressents.) anti depressents harm unborn children so you cant take them while pregnant. a baby wont care that your having a bad day, it will scream if it wants too!!
Reply:I%26#039;m a grandchild of a teen mom, a daughter of a teen mom, and a soon-to-be teen mom myself.

My grandmother had my mom at 15. I don%26#039;t know much about that side of the family though, so I can%26#039;t say much there.

My mom had me at 16. My mom thought she could handle having a baby around, but soon realized that she wouldn%26#039;t get to party anymore. Long story short, I barely saw my mom until she got pregnant with my little brother at 23. My mom and I are very VERY close now, but it%26#039;s been mostly because of my efforts to see her and her doing a lot of apologizing.

My father was 17 when I was born and I could care less about what happens with him and his family. I have absolutely no respect for my father.

And then there%26#039;s me. I%26#039;m a little older than all of the above, (I%26#039;m 18) and married. My baby wasn%26#039;t planned as I was on the nuvaring when he was conceived, but I%26#039;m not one to kill a baby over something it had no control over. These past 7 months have been the HARDEST I%26#039;ve ever endured. Not only has it been extremely tumultuous with my family, but also with my friends, husband, and my own self. I dropped out of high school at 16 because at the time I didn%26#039;t feel it was important. (Yes, I%26#039;m stupid.) I got back in at 17 and am still struggling to finish thanks to a little thing we like to refer to as %26quot;bed rest%26quot;. It%26#039;s really hard doing school work at home, let me tell you!

Babies are also extremely expensive. Think spending 30 dollars roughly three times a week just on formula. Diapers are no cheaper either. I think I read somewhere that the average baby costs 12,000 it%26#039;s first year of life.

I can%26#039;t tell you what to do, obviously, but having a baby completely changes your life. Think about everything you do now and cut it completely in half to just the things you have to do. (pee, eat, shower, sleep.)

Right now, you need to be with your mom. She needs you more than anything right now, and you need to be by her side. She doesn%26#039;t need to be worrying about her pregnant 16 year old daughter in her last league of life.

Good luck on whatever you decide, but trust me, it%26#039;s a lot more than just giggling and smelly diapers.
Reply:Having a baby is something you do NOT want/need to do. You need a good support system- friends, their parents, counselors %26amp; so on..

Getting pregnant only makes things worse- i have 3 kids and I%26#039;m only 21. My dad has been in prison since I was little and my mom died when I was 5. That means I was in foster care til I moved out on my own at 15. Having a child makes everything sooooo much harder.. The money you are inheriting is not going to last very long- regardless of how much it is.. You have to pay so many bills to have a place to live, you will have to go to college or something to support your child, insurance money for yourself and baby, %26amp; money for diapers and so on the list keeps going on and on. It makes things more stressful, chances are you will sink into more of a depression. A child isn%26#039;t someone thats always just going to be there and loving you and happy to see mommy- they cry, they scream, they want what they want when they want it even though they cant tell you what it is as babies..
Reply:Don%26#039;t do it!!! I got pregnant at 17, it%26#039;s very hard!

You are still so young, focus your time and energy on your dream instead of a baby.

Besides if you really think about it, what if the father doesn%26#039;t stay involved (believe me, it happens more than you know), or worse, he does but only to make your life hell! You don%26#039;t want to have a relationship with your brother imagine having to share a child with a man who you can%26#039;t stand! Would your mother want this for you, make her proud, don%26#039;t make a mistake!

I don%26#039;t regret any of my 3 kids but I wish I would have waited! You have the opportunity to live your life before being tied down with responsibilities. Don%26#039;t pass that by! Go out with your friends, have fun. A baby won%26#039;t take away the hurt from the people you%26#039;ve lost in your life and can%26#039;t change what%26#039;s happening now, you%26#039;ll just have more to deal with. Try talking to a counselor!

Good luck in whatever you decide
Reply:I know you only wanted answers from teen moms, but I had to address that very request....... teen moms don%26#039;t know squat about motherhood, so right off the hop, you%26#039;re not going to get any good advice. They%26#039;ll tell you all about the emotional side of it... how awesome, or how horrible it is....... the fact is, they will tell you from they%26#039;re over-emotional kid brain, still surging with hormones but here%26#039;s the big eye- opener.......... IT%26#039;S NOT ABOUT YOU!!! It%26#039;s about that child who deserves to be raised by a MATURE, stable, financially secure, emotionally secure woman. Don%26#039;t plan a teen pregnancy. It%26#039;s a childish notion, and extremely selfish. Don%26#039;t birth a child because you%26#039;re lonely......... NeWS flash... They don%26#039;t offer any company. They%26#039;re demanding and a ton of work. Babies are a blessing, in the proper timing. Just by your Short writing i KNOW you%26#039;re no where near ready to be a mom. Your in it for all the wrong reasons. My heart goes out to you, losing your family members.... but you%26#039;ll also lose yourself if you have a baby this young. Go live a good, safe teenage life.
Reply:Okay, while I%26#039;m not a teen anymore, I was 18 when I became pregnant and 19 when my first baby was born. While this will get you the love that you are craving it will not always be easy. It is tough to be up all night, and it%26#039;s tough to carry a baby around for nine months. When you do have the baby it%26#039;s yours forever. It%26#039;s great that you%26#039;re looking into the parenting program. We had a daycare at my high school and we used it for a child development lab. It is great that you would want to continue school. My only worry is about who you would choose to be the father and what would happen from that.
Reply:I know right now you feel like having a baby will solve your problems but it won%26#039;t. Having a child is extremely stressful especially in high school not to mention the judge mental people out there will only make your life harder. imagine waking up at all hours of the night and then going to school or work wait in till you graduate and go to college or start a career before deciding this. Babys are not as fun as everyone thinks.

Help Me!!!?

356>my teacher was telling my class about a certain brand of anti-persperant(sp?) that it will clog up your sweat glands or something and will give you cancer. I was just wondering what brand this might be, because she didnt tell us. So if you know could you PLEASE tell me.... thank you.
Reply:It is absolutely untrue.

Your teacher is human, yes, but it was irresponsible and unprofessional of her to repeat a myth about cancer to students in her class, and she does need to be reported as presumably she will do it again if she isn%26#039;t.

There is no scientific evidence at all that deodorant and anti-perspirant cause cancer. The widespread belief that they cause breast cancer is due largely to a hoax email that was widely circulated.

Read these reports from reputable cancer organisations, print them off, stop worrying, tell your friends to stop worrying.

Reply:Your teacher is wrong. I can%26#039;t believe he/she is saying that. Tell your parents and switch schools.

Can antiperspirants or deodorants cause breast cancer?

Articles in the press and on the Internet have warned that underarm antiperspirants (a preparation that reduces underarm sweat) or deodorants (a preparation that destroys or masks unpleasant odors) cause breast cancer (1). The reports have suggested that these products contain harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast (2, 3).

However, researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a part of the National Institutes of Health, are not aware of any conclusive evidence linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates food, cosmetics, medicines, and medical devices, also does not have any evidence or research data that ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants cause cancer.

Why is Lance Armstrong America's darling and Barry Bonds America's whipping boy?

355>Could it be that Armstrong is white? Is it that he fits perfectly for the freedom fries crowd? (%26quot;Take that Frenchy%26quot; Middle-America said as they became temp fans of a sport they could care less about). Is it that Armstrong is working his s-kicking persona to perfection? He%26#039;s even from Texas (and he learned quickly that he served a place for the isolationist right as their anti-international, international sports hero, returning triumphant to the states having endured France for %26quot;us%26quot;). The cancer martyrdom obviously helped (and the five billion championships didn%26#039;t hurt either, but Bonds has had his share of success don%26#039;t you know). Somehow I think most people would have difficulty hiding their joy if Barry%26#039;s nuts were stricken with the big C.

I think it%26#039;s very clear that most Barry-haters are Lance supporters, and I think it reveals the truth about America%26#039;s resentment of Bonds success.

It isn%26#039;t because he cheated (only %26#039;tards don%26#039;t realize that half of baseball is juiced).
Reply:I think it has more to do with the fact that by the time I heard anyone accuse Lance Armstrong of using steroids, he was already beloved by most Americans, and his denial is a lot more convincing than Bonds, plus when you look at him he doesn%26#039;t look, physically, like he%26#039;s been taking a lot of steroids.

Bonds on the other hand was already somewhat disliked before any accusations ever surfaced, his denial is ludicrous since he testified in court that he took the cream and the clear, but he just didn%26#039;t know what they were. I find that hard to believe just because when you make your living off of your body you had better know what you%26#039;re putting into it. Also when you put an old picture of Bonds next to a recent picture of Bonds. You hear comments like: %26quot;Oh my god what happened to his head%26quot;. In those pictures it looks like he has literally doubled in size, and all of it in his mid to late 30%26#039;s. I%26#039;m not saying Lance is innocent and I%26#039;m not saying Barry is guilty, but Lance is likeable personality who had to overcome life threatening obstacles, can believably deny using steroids, and you don%26#039;t doubt his denial when you look at his physique. Bonds was a person that people either didn%26#039;t care about or didn%26#039;t like then he admitted to unknowingly using steroids, and anyone can tell by looking at him that he used a lot of steroids.
Reply:I think it is because Armstrong fought back from cancer to go on to win.

Those who argue that it is because one man is black an the other is white simply act to perpetuate the stereotype.
Reply:In a word: attitude.

In particular, the attitude portrayed toward the media, and through the media to the public.

It doesn%26#039;t hurt Armstrong that he has a HUGE human interest story line (surviving cancer and then winning the tour) either.

Red marine algae and current HPV (wart kind) infection.?

354>I%26#039;ve been doing a lot of research on natural methods to boost the immune system to fight off viral infections--HPV to be specific. I just started taking spirulina and chlorella for my overall healh since being diagnosed with HPV, but I read that a lot of herpes sufferers take red marine algae to prevent and/or treat current outbreaks as it is a great natural anti-viral. I%26#039;ve also read that it has been proven that RMA inhibits HPV (cancer kind) growth in lab tests, which is why some lubricants and condoms contain RMAs active ingredient (forget what it%26#039;s called). I wonder if this would work for a current HPV (wart kind) infection. Any experiences with this? Anyone know more about his. Please, serious answers only. Thanks.
Reply:Red marine algae does dramatically increase your immune system, so does Sovereign Silver and organic camu camu. You can internally and externally apply Sovereign Silver. Here is a link with more info.

Reply:HPV is a hard thing to diagnose I feel that many doctors are only really learning about it now I have 4 friends who all thought due to there doc they had HPV 3 yrs later 2 out of the 4 have it really and sometimes it goes away. I would suggest trying TEA TREE OIL, in epson salt in a bath every night. Make sure it is an Essential Oil.
Reply:Treatment is aimed at destruction of the warty growths rather than elimination of the virus.

Subclinical infection probably is lifelong, and there is no cure.

Most partners are likely to be subclinically infected with HPV, even if they do not have exophytic lesions.

Use of condoms may reduce transmission of the virus to uninfected partners.

Standard therapies for GWs can remove most warts; however, there is no ideal treatment for all warts and all patients.

Caustics/acids - 80-90% bichloracetic acid (BCA) or trichloroacetic acid (TCA)

Podophyllin resin - 10-25% or 0.5% podofilox solution or gel (Condylox)

Imiquimod 5% cream (Aldara) - 3 times per week, up to 4 months (A recent article reported that the optimal duration of use for women%26#039;s genital warts may be 1 month.)

Interferon, intramuscular or intralesional injection - 3 million units, 3 times per week for 3 weeks

HPV vaccines

A variety of prophylactic and therapeutic HPV vaccine trials are ongoing and may be of potential future benefit.

Notably, a vaccine against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18 (Gardasil, Merck) has recently been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for approval as the first vaccine against HPV infection. Another vaccine against HPV types 16 and 18 (GlaxoSmithKline) will probably be available in 2006.

Surgical Care:

Cryosurgery is very effective for treating multiple, small, genital warts.

Warts on the shaft of the penis and vulva respond very well to cryotherapy.

Cryotherapy of the rectum is painful and less successful.

Cryotherapy is effective and safe for the mother and fetus when used during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

Electrosurgery is quite effective for a limited number of lesions on the shaft of the penis.

Large, unresponsive lesions around the rectum or vulva can be treated with scissor excision of the bulk of the mass followed by electrocautery of the remaining tissue down to the skin surface.

Loop electrocautery excisional procedure (LEEP) after colposcopic biopsy has become a standard procedure for cervical lesions particularly for the ones with neoplastic features.

Removal of a very large mass of warts is a painful procedure, best performed under either general or spinal anesthesia.

Carbon dioxide laser is an efficient method of treating primary and recurrent anogenital warts because of its precision and rapid healing without scarring.

Primary cure rates as high as 91% have been reported.

Carbon dioxide laser is the treatment of choice for pregnant women with extensive lesions or lesions that do not respond to TCA.

Pulsed-dye laser and other new lasers have been used by some with various successful rates.

Surgery is indicated particularly for large GWs or malignant lesions.

For recurrent carcinoma, Mohs surgery is a good choice.

His legs can hardly support his rear end. Hes walking like hes drunk. Hes on antibiotics. On 4/19 went to vet: antibiotic injection, anti-inflammatory injection, amoxicillin 20/100 mg. On 4/24 back at vet: antibiotic injection, anti-inflammatory injection, Baytril - 60 7/ 50 tabs, 12 Rimadyl 25mg. Diet consiting of Canine i/D wet and dry. Pancreatic something?? Could it be the dog food scare? A sick gopher or bird? Poison? Snickles is a daschehound/ chihuaha, 6 years old. Is he dreaming? Or having mild seazures? All advise helpful... Thank-you
Reply:Hi Audrey, Snickles is a very sick companion and i think it%26#039;s best if you just hold him and rock him in a rocky chair and sing to him and talk softly to him. I think you know what is going to happen. Just remember he loves you as much as you love him. He will always be in your heart know matter what. I will say a pray for little Snickles tonight. Does it have weak legs?

Very high thirst?

Pain (because of pancreas damage?)

Weight Loss

Maybe sometimes having accidents in the house?

This is caused my Dog Diabetes.

The meds your doctors are putting him on seem to be trying to kill bacteria? Diabetes can lead to secondary bacterial infections and dehydration. Are they treating the diabetes though?

Hope this helps. you can email aaneiros@ramapo.edu if you need more help.

Beside the side effects that you have stated above have you seen any of the ones that I list below?

loss of appetite

change in drinking habits (refusal to drink or increased water consumption)

unusual pattern of urination, blood in the urine, sweet-smelling urine, an overabundance of urine, urine accidents in the house

vomiting

diarrhea

black, tarry stools or flecks of blood in the vomit

lethargy, drowsiness, hyperactivity, restlessness, aggressiveness

staggering, stumbling, weakness or partial paralysis, full paralysis, seizures, dizziness, loss of balance

jaundice (yellowing of the skin, mucus membranes and whites of the eyes) I just listed them all for you so you can check them all out. You need to STOP giving him the Rimadyl ASAP not another pill %26amp; call a Vet. Also I have listed the following sites for you so you can research this.

Why is she scratching?

351>My cat is 9 yrs old. I took her to the vet 4 months ago for what looked like a bug bite, that she had scrathed raw. They gave her a cone on her head because the %26quot;bite%26quot; is behind her ear, she can%26#039;t reach it to bite it but she can scratch it with her paws. We waited until the wound was completely closed and removed the cone. A week later she had scratched it all open again and we have been repeating this process for three months. We have tried anti-itch cream and anti-biotics. The problem is that she won%26#039;t stop itching that spot and she has had infections in that open wound from her constantly irritating it. The vet is saying that she needs psycotic meds, if her biopsy for cancer and such, comes out clean. I do not want to fork over the money for the vet bills if I can find something else that works. I am hoping some one else has had my same problem. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Reply:Animals can become obsessive about scratching, cleaning, eating etc. Have you tried a little catnip on a favorite toy to take her mind off it, it may also calm her down without giving her a pill, could it be a food allergy, does she wear a flea collar { I had 2 cats that had strange reactions to them } could it be a parasite under the skin. Maybe you need a new vet ?

i see alot of wounds behind cats ears because of ear problems

take yoru cat back to the vet and have an ear culture done

have them check for yeast, bacteria and mites

(along with the standard diabtribe about how this is all wrong).

I gave a good reply to it (link to youtube video is at the question), but when I read that specific part over again, I believe that I found a false hood. Tell me if I%26#039;m correct.

Cancer occurs when a cell switches from using oxygen to fermentation (and many chemicals have been shown to help cause this aka carcinogens). Given that fact, does that mean his assertion is completely innacurate? (or am I not connecting the two ideas properly).

This isn%26#039;t meant to be an anti Kalos post, I just want to know if I%26#039;m correct.
Reply:A guy named dr otto warburg discovered that when a cell turns cancerous it switches from being aeorbic and using oxygen for respiration to becoming aneorobic and utilizing fermentation for energy instead.

I also think that if toxins don%26#039;t leave your body, then they cause problems.

However, why are you even trying to prove this point? You might as well yell at a brick wall, he won%26#039;t listen. Everytime you%26#039;ve actually called him on something that cannot be debated he either doesn%26#039;t respond or deletes what he said. In this case it will just get a flame and be ignored. Have fun trying to reason with him. I%26#039;d rather just laugh at the whole thing personally!
Reply:%26quot;Cancer occurs when a cell switches from using oxygen to fermentation%26quot;

False. Don%26#039;t know where you got this idea from, but cancer cells are metabolically similar to healthy cells.

Do I need tomove on!?

348>Well...wow...we%26#039;re do I begin? I%26#039;m going through sum real tough **** in my life right now!! So much dat i got to take anti-depresents! Me n ma boifuend broke ^ n 2 dayz after he alweady got a new gurl while im still single! I%26#039;ve had like 3 or 4 real close family members die in da past two weeks n one has been diagnozed wit cancer! I%26#039;m havin problems wit my mom, dad...(really his my %26quot;step dad%26quot;), siblingz, and fuendz!!! School used to b da only place were i could go to get away from it all but now sumtimez i dont even wanna go! Da anti- depresents are effecting my body in a way dat if i over doose, juz a lil, or get hyper, i could fall into a coma or DIE!!!! So I guess my question is wut should I do? When itz obvious i cant stop taking them, but i might not make it if i go on?!? And...could this all b about my ex?!? Is da fact dat i %26quot;might%26quot; b in denial about me really have moved on n being ok wit him n his new gurl b da problem?!?Wut do u think?Cuz no matter how stupid,i dont wanna live.
Reply:Get counseling so that you can take time to sort this out. Do not harm yourself. You need some perspective from a professional. Good luck..
Reply:First of all, anti-depressants can%26#039;t make you die. Unless, of course, you were to overdose. However, too much of ANY kind of pill can be considered overdosing, which can kill you. Just take the required amount to fix your depression - no more than that. Taking more will mess with your actions and/or hormones.

Forget about your ex. Apparently, since you%26#039;re in school, you%26#039;re fairly young. You have a LONG life ahead of you to date as many guys as you want. No one I know (that really cared about the person) can get over their ex in a day. That tells you that maybe he didn%26#039;t really take the relationship seriously. Teenage boys don%26#039;t (most of the time). Just relax, and stop worrying about so much.

And I%26#039;m sorry about your losses.

If you had the chance to get to know the "real" Iran within 10 minuttes, would you do that?

347>If your answer is %26quot;Yes%26quot; read this:

I believe that if you spend 10 minutes reading this essay, you will be better informed than if you listen to a lifetime%26#039;s worth of Major Media news. This article has two parts:

1. Cultural and general info

2. Political info.

Note: I%26#039;ve explained everything.Any answers before reading the whole thing will prove to be wrong.Specially the political part.I%26#039;ve provided evidence for whatever I say.It%26#039;s just the way it is.

Part 1: Cultural and general info

Hi. I%26#039;m a 19 year old Iranian who has spent his life in Iran.I study English. When I chat with people from other countries, I am shocked to see how totally wrong their ideas are about Iran. I wrote this article in an attempt to help correct those ideas.

The first thing the West accuses our government of is that we don%26#039;t allow personal freedoms. Actually, Iranians disobey laws they don%26#039;t like as much as anyone. There are only a few restrictions.It%26#039;s cool over here. People here do whatever they wish to! Many strict rules in other countries don%26#039;t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. Some of Iran%26#039;s laws are based on OUR culture. You look at our country from %26quot;your own point of view%26quot;! In Iran most houses have a sattelite dish. Sattelite television has a serious influence on our people, and Iranians wear very fashionable clothing. Maybe it is a kind of imitation, but we still have our own unique Iranian style. A visitor might wonder if this is a country or a fantasy pageant of beauty queens! Make-up and fashionable clothing are everywhere.I ignore a few fuddy-duddies though!

In my view, everything is great, if you ignore unemployment, drugs, inflation and air pollution.

Ever heard Iranian girls are terrific?I%26#039;ve collected some photos showing Iranian girls! Look! Poeple are like this!

http://tinypic.com/2d0nfao.jpg Is that enough?!

Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place. They%26#039;re very respectful, and they%26#039;ve been the winners in so many cases: Most of them get into the best universities because they%26#039;re very smart. And they get the best jobs because of their high university degrees.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery. Have you ever asked yourselves how many years ago that footage related to? But in one case the thing that had happened was incest not adultery. Most of those footages relate to the early days just after Iran%26#039;s revolution! Otherwise you%26#039;d get new footages at least once a month! What exactly makes you think women are treated differently? The way they are treated in Saudi Arabia? Try to think of the racism in your country too.I found a BOOK of the U.S problems and it got me dizzy! Iran has its own problems too. Each country has its own problems.

Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are --------- SEPERATE COUNTRIES! --------- Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! Iran is a normal country like any other in the world.

Although we%26#039;re proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed.

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it.Now, I found it among the English news: %26quot;The medicine is produced from herbs using nano technology%26quot; The link to read about it is: http://www.payvand.com/news/07/feb/1032....

The Media are unjust.

The pioneer in heart transplants and artificiall hearts, %26quot;artificial vessels%26quot; using nano-technology (Reported yesterday) and so on and so! (I%26#039;ve put two websites below) The head of the Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. The champion weight-lifter, a woman the nobel peace prize are Iranian. The 6th top movie director in the world is Iranian.(Abbas Kiarostami) http://arts.guardian.co.uk/fridayreview/...

These are just small samples. If the media told you about Iran%26#039;s achievemens everyday and didn%26#039;t hide them, your news would be full of Iranian news!Iranian girls are famous for being terrific. We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets, artists and scientists that are world famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (one Dollar =about 950 Tomans) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran has nearly all the industries and technologies found in %26#039;developed%26#039; countries. Oh, and we have four seasons! We get a lot of snow and there are skating rinks! lol The list is endless.

I%26#039;m gonna introduce Iran%26#039;s international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It%26#039;s fully in English. In the %26quot;Sic / Tech%26quot; section you%26#039;ll always see Iran%26#039;s discoveries. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Enough evidence?

Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California a desert. We share the same latitude. Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. %26quot;Music of Iran and Iranian musicians have received countless awards in the course of history. Every year from 1977 to 2007.Evidence? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Ir...

I send Iranian music to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they%26#039;re some of the best songs they%26#039;ve ever heard.

It%26#039;s now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts and riding camels!

Part 2: Political info.

The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would make them controversial topics to interest its viewers! For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without refering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.

First of all, Iranians don%26#039;t hate anyone. We hate neither Jews nor Americans. How would our guys dream of America, want to be like them as much as possible, and hate them at the same time?! The truth us that Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American! Being agaisnt the U.S policies is a different story! We live basically the same lives.Don%26#039;t look at the way women dress in public places! You%26#039;ve got to see them in other places!I%26#039;ve got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov%26#039;t. Jews are faithful people! 20,000 Jews and lots of Christians live here equally with Iranians and two of Iran%26#039;s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Moslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?

Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us.

Only Iran%26#039;s opponents are pulling Iran%26#039;s leg and what they say is just based on political conflicts. What we%26#039;re doing is legal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It%26#039;s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Saddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relations with all of them.

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! the thing is that he exactly said: %26quot;The Imam %26quot;Khomeyni%26quot; said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.%26quot;They%26#039;ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it%26#039;s mistranslated intentionally. Besides, they%26#039;ve been saying such things for a long time.It%26#039;s their habit.Here%26#039;s an article.%26quot;Wiped off the map....The roumor of the century.Read how the media and the U.S newspapers have twisted it into a controvertioal topic. http://www.antiwar.com/orig/norouzi.php?... Now you see that you were wrong.Iran has always defended itself, but it%26#039;s not an offensive country.

Well, if you%26#039;d like to blame someone for that, hope in a time-machine and sue Hitler! lol

Some countries are using Iran as a scapegoat to put the blame (for their own faults) on.

This part is just for Americans:

Those of you who say why Iran says %26quot;Death to America%26quot;:

1. %26#039;America%26#039; to us means the U.S govt, not the people. How do you expect Iranians to mean %26quot;American people%26quot; when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up %26quot;no war%26quot; placards?! Also, I see a lot of %26quot;Let%26#039;s nuke Iran%26quot;s on YA.Isn%26#039;t that a kind of %26quot;Death to Iran%26quot;?

Would you?)

4. U.S. companies assistance in developing Iraq%26#039;s chemical weapons facilities during the Iran-Iraq war which killed over a million Iranians

5. USS Vincennes shooting down Iran Air Flight 655 with many civilian fatalities

6.U.S. Support for anti-Iranian terrorist organisations (i.e. the MKO);

7. Economic damage caused by U.S. sanctions and political pressure; U.S. UAV overflights over Iran violating Iranian airspace since 2003.

When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he%26#039;s said, what do you call Bush for his war crimes?

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days:

1. Firstly, It%26#039;s related to so many years ago and it%26#039;s almost a part of history, and don%26#039;t forget that when there%26#039;s a revolution, there%26#039;d be chaos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they%26#039;re all alive and healthy. Aren%26#039;t they?

2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and had tortured the one who was freed. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. How do you believe in their lies about politics when they hide both the most and the least important things from you considering the fact that politics is the world of lies in its nature?!!!

If you like to insist on your theory of attacking Israel, I%26#039;ll tell you our logical theory: %26quot;The moment that Iran attacks Israel, Iran will be wiped off the face of the earth by the U.S and its allies and Iran is far more logical than doing such a stupid thing%26quot; So, forget about it.I%26#039;m quite sure you know that all the events and lies in the world are a part of a pre-planned scenario by major world-powers (Iran as an important country has always been a part of their plans)And the first step is to brainwash people. They excactly know what will happen even 50 years later! I think Iraq is such a good example.Attacking it with the excuse of removing Saddam while they%26#039;d put Saddam there themselves and had supported him for years! They said they had W.M.Ds and you believed them. Now they say Iran (a member of N.P.T) has nukes / is developing nukes and you believe them wilhe the nuclear agency hasn%26#039;t found any sign of illegal activities.Time to wake up!

Isn%26#039;t it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov%26#039;ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. They don%26#039;t care about hurting people%26#039;s feelings. They just try to make our two peoples enemies to achieve their own goals. We, as the people of these countries, MUST NOT allow these conflics into our hearts. Now, what do you think? I can%26#039;t wait to see both nations in peace. It%26#039;d be marvelous!

Reply:The majority of people in Iran are decent people--as are the majority of people in every country (including the US, europe--and Israel).

The problem is our leaders have gotten--and keep--power by playing on and excaberating hatred and fear.

With respect to Iran, the problem the rest of the world has (excluding the hate-mongers) is that the Iranian leadership--specifically the president--is a madman. That makes him a danger to everyone--including the Iranian people. And the concern is centered on the possibility that he may get nuclear weapons. You can make the arguement--and its not without merit-that it is hypocritical for the countries that have them to try to deny the sovereign right of other nations.

But this goes beyond the usual politics and %26quot;rights of nations.%26quot; It%26#039;s bad enough that ANYONE ha s nuclear weapons--but as long as they%26#039;re around, limiting the numbers is the best we can do. And keeping them out of the hands of madmen is absolutely vital.

What I fear is that many people in the Muslim world do not realize that we are NOT simply talking about a%26quot;bigger bomb.%26quot; Think of this: Teheran- is a great city. ONE nuclear bomb--and it is gone--in less time than it took you to read this sentance.

Or any other city in the world.

And therein lies the problem. Most people are not haters. But as long as Iran has a leadership that is insane enough to actually use such weapons, we--decent people worldwide--find ourselves forced to support even the likes of Bush in sanctioning and pressuring Iran. Because it%26#039;s a simple matter of self-protection--not against the Iranian people, but against their leaders.
Reply:Whilst I found your article interesting, I do find that it smacks a little of propaganda. True - many people are ignorant of Iran - as they are many other countries, and true our media and government in the West seem to want to paint Iran in a black light; but there are some points I%26#039;d like to make.

1) %26quot;There are only a few restrictions%26quot; - this is a relative point. I think (from my western perspective) that forcibly cutting the hair of men whose hair is viewed as %26#039;too long%26#039; is not the actions of a rational state. Nor is the beating of women who have one strand of hair outside their headscarf. Nor is the idea of having a %26#039;moral police%26#039; - the basij.

2) %26quot;if you ignore unemployment, drugs, inflation and air pollution%26quot; - those are some pretty big points! Unemployment is rife, and inflation is high. Neither of these things are good OR minor points. Not to mention the fact Tehran has some of the worst quality air in the world.

3) %26quot;Some people think women don%26#039;t have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place%26quot; - an interesting word %26#039;overrunning%26#039;. Perhaps it%26#039;s a mistranslation, but using a word which implies a catastrophic loss of control is not exactly indicative of a tolerant society is it?

4) %26quot;The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums%26quot; - so why not give women the CHOICE? Is it any of the state%26#039;s business?

5) %26quot;Although we%26#039;re proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed%26quot; - Australia has no nuclear energy. Nor does Italy, Portugal, Norway, Ireland, Denmark or several other western and powerful nations. They do not see the need for it. It%26#039;s a little suspicious that Iran, a country so full of oil, seeks nuclear energy is it not?

6) More of a pinicity point; %26quot;6th top movie director in the world is Iranian%26quot; From whose/what perspective? Academy awards won? How many films he%26#039;s made?

7) %26quot;The truth us that Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American%26quot; This is just simply untrue. The Israelis are FAR more pro-US than any other middle eastern state, and the Saudis and Quwaitis are not far behind. Not being Iranian I wouldn%26#039;t be able to comment on how many of your people are pro-US, but I don%26#039;t think it would be a high number.

8) %26quot;Correction! It%26#039;s %26quot;nuclear energy%26quot;%26quot; - for now it is. And what a convenient front.

9) %26quot;%26#039;America%26#039; to us means the U.S govt, not the people%26quot; - again, you generalise. I%26#039;m sure there are many Iranians who hate the US people, just as there are many US people who hate Iranians. Both nations have ignorant fools who cannot see the people are seperate from the government.

10) [paraphrased] the new generation don%26#039;t march in the streets. Yes they do. I have seen footage of a massive anti-american rally for one. I saw photographs and a report of a crowd stoning the British embassy. Once again you whitewash the facts to present your case in a good light.

In short Iran is a country with problems. The picture is not as black as many would have us believe, and I think that many Iranian people are good and do not agree with the course their government takes. Yet I think you support/are not critical enough of your state. I simply don%26#039;t believe Iran%26#039;s nuclear energy talk - if that was so why not let someone else build and monitor the reactors for you? Why so consistently fail to reach a bargain? Is nuclear energy so important to risk a war?

Your people may be good - your people probably genuinely do want peace, but your government is not good. It is run by madmen who claim to be appointed by God - yes you have elections (hardly free when half the candidates are disqualified I may add), yet the president you appoint only has power if the mullahs say so; not the actions of a rational state. Your government is promoting hatred of artists and intellectuals because they believe the US is trying, through them, to bring about a %26quot;soft revolution%26quot;. Now, I don%26#039;t believe war is the answer, but your government and the culture they impose on you certainly is not good, not great - and the Iranian people succeed DESPITE, not because of it.
Reply:Yes, it is informative and a lot of what you shared is to my knowledge for the first time. I am christian born in America I want world peace and pray for it all the time. I share some of what your dream is in that I hope to see people live in peace on the whole planet, rather than be part of why it is destroyed. I feel this is a responsibility of the entire world to make peace happen, one person at a time if need be. Everyday doing one thing to stop the death of innocent people. I believe God will heal the land of the people who pray for peace. Peace be with you and your country.
Reply:why not, and yes your article is very informative, I skipped over it real fast.
Reply:You sound like a propagandist for the current Iranian regime, which is only supported by 50% of the people. There is a growing opposition to Ahmadinejad, the economy has collapsed, the currency is worthless and your despot gets a war going between Hezbollah and Isreal whenever he is threatened by an uprising.

I know about Iran, and I know Iranian Americans who want democracy in their native land. Some of us here are smart enough to see your true agenda.
Reply:A response to Mordent%26#039;s points:

1) But many countries have restrictions on various things that other countries might see as nonsensical. I have to agree with you that beating or opressing women is wrong but I%26#039;m not sure it%26#039;s something worth going to war over, rather something that the Iranian people will hopefully move rapidly towards improving. Certainly as more wealth comes into the region this is likely to change, once the majority of women aren%26#039;t as dependent on their husbands and are above the poverty line it%26#039;s not likely to be an enforcable policy.

2) Most countries in the world have these problems to a greater or lesser extent. The US has a far worse drug problem, causes proportionately more air pollution than anywhere else on the planet and has a huge foreign debt for example.

3) I agree with you on that one but also see point 1.

4) Again I agree with you on that one too but also see point 1 again.

5) This isn%26#039;t quite accurate - Australia is building another nuclear reactor, had one for a long time and was secretly enriching uranium for years during the cold war in order to build a bomb (this was only recently divulged as files on it were unsealed). Also many, many countries around the world are pushing towards switching more power generation to nuclear. This in itself isn%26#039;t odd, even for an oil rich country since many are concerned about the effect of burning so many fossil fuels on the environment - you can hardly criticise the quality of a country%26#039;s air and then be mad when they want to improve things in this regard surely? I think they%26#039;d be better off if they built a geothermal power station at any rate (better land usage vs energy generated, more sustainable, less criticism from foreign powers, etc) but we also got to remember that nuclear power is seen as a status symbol by many smaller countries (including Australia for example).

6) I agree with your assessment on this, pinicity as it is.

7) I agree about Israel being strongly pro-American, not so sure about the Saudi%26#039;s. Also the United Arab Emiritz, Turkey and quite a few others are if not pro-American then not anti-American either.

8) Other countries are allowed to legitimately use nuclear energy, why not Iran? Further other countries are allowed to produce nuclear weapons despite not being permanent members of the UN security council, again why not Iran? Nuclear weapon development has proved generally a waste of resources and a very ineffective threat. Further Iran%26#039;s missile technology isn%26#039;t all that good, I very much doubt they%26#039;d be capable of threating the US with any sort of nuclear weapon any time in the even close to near future even if they put much of the country%26#039;s resources into developing it.

9) Totally agree with you on this one.

10) Being able to march in the street is surely a symbol of the much vaunted freedom, surely if they%26#039;d locked up people protesting that would be worse? I think the media has certainly strived to portray Iran negatively so the truth is somewhere in between the ultra positive and the ultra negative perhaps?

The US is a country with problems too, what country is without them? Most citizens of most countries don%26#039;t tend to be critical enough of their own nation and government, that%26#039;s as true in the US or Australia as in Iran. I agree with international monitoring but only if it%26#039;s for ALL nations, no exceptions. Having another nation run a nuclear reactor in your country is not a workable suggestion and would require an almost unquestioning level of trust.

As for government%26#039;s run by madmen who believe they are appointed by God, dodgey elections, enormous power and influence of religion on the state and limited candidates... perhaps people who live in glass whitehouses shouldn%26#039;t throw stones? Does the US not censor artists, often based on political purposes? Doesn%26#039;t the US legislate on personal morality sometimes too (drugs for example), rightly or wrongly?

In short I think many of your criticisms are expecting things of Iran that the US itself doesn%26#039;t deliver although I do agree with some of the points you made and applaud the fact that you%26#039;re not promoting war but rather just voicing your opinion. I think probably we all need to be a bit more circumspect and try to fix our own flaws before calling others on theirs though, Australia and the US aren%26#039;t perfect so they probably shouldn%26#039;t expect that standard of others. I think more open dialogue and exchange of ideas between Iran and the US would be a good start. Let%26#039;s not forget that aggression between the two is simply playing into the hands of extremists on both sides.
