352>I want to know that I did all I could to save my dog. We watched my mother die of cancer, now I watch him die. Does he hate the food? Or lost his appetite? His legs can hardly support his rear end. Hes walking like hes drunk. Hes on antibiotics. On 4/19 went to vet: antibiotic injection, anti-inflammatory injection, amoxicillin 20/100 mg. On 4/24 back at vet: antibiotic injection, anti-inflammatory injection, Baytril - 60 7/ 50 tabs, 12 Rimadyl 25mg. Diet consiting of Canine i/D wet and dry. Pancreatic something?? Could it be the dog food scare? A sick gopher or bird? Poison? Snickles is a daschehound/ chihuaha, 6 years old. Is he dreaming? Or having mild seazures? All advise helpful... Thank-you
Reply:Hi Audrey, Snickles is a very sick companion and i think it%26#039;s best if you just hold him and rock him in a rocky chair and sing to him and talk softly to him. Let him know you care very much about him. Just stay with him and don%26#039;t let him be alone. If you want i would put a small blanket in your bed beside you. That way he won%26#039;t be alone. I think you know what is going to happen. Just remember he loves you as much as you love him. He will always be in your heart know matter what. I will say a pray for little Snickles tonight. God Bless Snickels...

Reply:What did the vet say? Are they just giving him drugs because they want to? They must know or they wouldn%26#039;t or shouldn%26#039;t give him drugs.
Reply:and your vet said they were administering the drugs for ______________ (please fill in the blank)
Reply:Ok: Here is what I think it may be
Tell me if this sounds like your dog, ok?
Does it have weak legs?
Very high thirst?
Pain (because of pancreas damage?)
Weight Loss
Maybe sometimes having accidents in the house?
This is caused my Dog Diabetes.
The meds your doctors are putting him on seem to be trying to kill bacteria? Diabetes can lead to secondary bacterial infections and dehydration. Are they treating the diabetes though?
Hope this helps. you can email aaneiros@ramapo.edu if you need more help.
Reply:It does sound like diabetes, which is a side-effect of serious kidney infection. Please join K9Kidney straight away. These people deal with kidney diseases every day, and are far more *up* on what to do than most vets. They will help you and support you every step of the way. Their site is at:-

Has your vet taken blood? And if so, did they give you the results? K9Kidney will want to know every single detail of those blood results.........because in that way they can read the results and know what is going on.
Thinking of you and your dog.
Reply:First I need to say how sorry that I am you are going through this %26amp; you are in my prayers. Why was he taken to the Vet in the first place? This sounds to me like it%26#039;s a side effect from the Rimadyl that will kill you dog it is very dangerous because it will attack the liver %26amp; kidneys. Beside the side effects that you have stated above have you seen any of the ones that I list below?
loss of appetite
change in drinking habits (refusal to drink or increased water consumption)
unusual pattern of urination, blood in the urine, sweet-smelling urine, an overabundance of urine, urine accidents in the house
vomiting
diarrhea
black, tarry stools or flecks of blood in the vomit
lethargy, drowsiness, hyperactivity, restlessness, aggressiveness
staggering, stumbling, weakness or partial paralysis, full paralysis, seizures, dizziness, loss of balance
jaundice (yellowing of the skin, mucus membranes and whites of the eyes) I just listed them all for you so you can check them all out. You need to STOP giving him the Rimadyl ASAP not another pill %26amp; call a Vet. Also I have listed the following sites for you so you can research this.

I hope I haven%26#039;t over loaded you. Good luck
Reply:If your vet%26#039;s treatment isn%26#039;t helping, or the vet can%26#039;t diagnose this problem, I would recommend a visit with another vet. Be sure to take any reports of testing done..The vet must give you copies of any test results.
