Does/Can cumin cause B.O. (body odor)?

172>I just started using cumin for seasoning and because of its anti-cancer properties. But I%26#039;m wondering, wil I stink after regular usage since it sort of smells like B.O.? Just curious.

Thanks.
Reply:This probably has a lot to do with your own personal body chemistry as much as it does with what cumin smells like.

For instance, my husband loves Greek food but there is some seasoning common in Greek cuisine that makes him, literally, stink, for approx. 24 hours after eating it. I can barely stand to be near him then, and brushing his teeth and showering don%26#039;t help - he just has to wait until it wears off. However, other people can (and do!) eat the exact same Greek meal as he does, and I can%26#039;t detect any peculiar smell on them at all.

The only way you can know for sure how it is going to affect you, is to eat some, then ask a trusted friend or family member to smell you and be honest about whether you smell offensive or not. You may want to have them smell you %26quot;pre-cumin%26quot; so that they have something to compare with, too...

Anyway, hope this helps.
Reply:Not positive about cumin, but curry does.
Reply:I think that the type of food you eat does create body odor. Your body excretes through sweat etc. Cumin is really strong so I think it would cause odor. I know garlic does!
Reply:hiya!!! actually being a cook who specialises in indian cuisine at home!! well lets say a bit of an expert when it cums from some one who has used all sorts of spices!! Fenugreek comes both in seed form and in leaf form and trust me after eating a dominated meal of this you will surely be scrubbing your armpits!! hope its of help!! Did you know that you can add ground cumin in plain lassi with some salt!! this taste refrehing during a spicey meal!!
Reply:I don%26#039;t know, but just take regular showers OR you can have someone sniff you a few hours after you have cummin. Work up a sweat first.
Reply:I lived in Sri Lanka for almost two years, and I never noticed that eating cumin or curry changes (or enhances) my odor. I did notice, however, that even though I ate the same food as the locals, when I was on a hot, crowded bus, I did not smell the same as they did. My theory: when you sweat, you stink, no matter what you eat. The type of smell is more related to genetics than to diet.
Reply:I dont know about cumin either. But I know that when I make guacamole with LOTS of garlic, I%26#039;m literally oozing it. Breath, and I%26#039;m pretty sure when I sweat. This last for about a day or two.......even with showering and teeth brushing.
Reply:No, Cumin does not cause BO what it does is ruin you food if you put too much of it, is just like cinnamon a little goes a long way!
