Do Spots on your lungs a;ways mean cancer?

150>I went to the Hospital last night because I had been having this dull achy pain in my upper right chest are that would sometimes shoot through to my back it had been there for about 4-5 days and was gettin worse so they did x-rays and a ct scan and a bunch of other tests and my gall bladder, heart. everything looked ok and said that I had probably strained or pulled a muscle in my chest wall and gave me some anti inflammatory drugs for the pain but the Doc. said that I had a few spots on my lungs and that it was probably nothing to worry about but to have it chacked again in 6 months and I%26#039;m thinking if it is something like cancer shouldn%26#039;t I get it checked sooner than 6 months or is it ok to wait that long. Any Ideas??
Reply:%26quot;spots%26quot; is not a medical term. You need to ask exactly what type %26quot;spot%26quot; was found. Usually if they suspect cancer then they only wait 3 months before doing another CT scan so the fact that they said six months before another scan indicates they probably do not think that you have lung cancer.

You could have scar tissue, granulomas (fluid filled bumps) or an old or current infection that was visible on the scan, along with numerous other non-cancer possibilities. If your symptoms continue then you might want another scan in three months but if your pain resolves then waiting six months sounds reasonable. good luck
Reply:Yeah, it could be Cancer, TB, tares in the lungs, or dirt from all that smoking.

Only your Doc can tell you... 6 months later!
Reply:I had the same thing happen. I had phnemonia. There were 3 spots on my left lung. I took my meds and got better. I had to get re- xrayed 6 mo. later, and it came up all clear. I understand that it can be worrysome, but most of the time it turns out to be nothing.
Reply:No, not all spots found are cancerous! I have a cousin who has a huge spot on her lung...it is not cancer but, they cannot figure out what it is!! Even so, it is something you need to keep on top off!

I would go sooner than six months. This will give you peace of mind and you will know how to proceed as well!

Best of luck in this!
