135>finally after pushing the topic for years, its starting to get recognition: the fact that cannabinoids help prevent against tumor growth. this is an explaination for why pot smokers dont have an increased incidence of cancer. and there are plenty of studies to provide evidence for this: %26quot;
Until quite recently, PAH-related carcinogenicity was attributed to CYP1 involvement with PAH-related DNA damage in vitro, whereas in vivo experiments now suggest a crucial role for CYP1 enzymes in the detoxification rather than metabolic activation of PAHs (Nebert et al. 2004). Cannabinoids may also exert anti-carcinogenic effects unrelated to their hydrocarbon structure.%26quot;
do you believe these studies (please provide reasoning and evidence)?
and no i am not just another one of those pothead who is desperate to prove pot is harmless. these studies are extremely important in cancer research and development of new medications.
Reply:It is so funny how far reaching the %26quot;Refer Madness%26quot; propaganda is. Recently, Showtime did a long expose on Cannabis and its history, esp in the States.
I know loads of professionals who use cannabis on a regular basis and have over 30 years.
I know of people going through chemo who were dying because they couldn%26#039;t eat, and out of desperation their families tried the evil weed, and the ill person began to come back to life.
So many examples of Physicians drugging patients To Death with all the little weird legal dope they can prescribe, and patients being able to throw out most or all upon the use of pot.
I have known persons with horrendous allergies who were required to take shots twice per day, who when they were introduced to Mary Jane, their allergies left and the shots along with.
The fear mongering of %26quot;refer madness%26quot; is just that. Yes, dear lord there are many cases where a person becomes a veg-a-head, and never accomplishes anything. Perhaps Cannabis just made em nicer at it, they would be veggies or worse anyway.
Reply:I doubt it has any effect at all. The ones who say it does probably are the ones who want to legalize it.
Reply:From what I%26#039;ve learned from medical reports over the past 20 years, everything in the world both causes and prevents cancer.
Reply:It probably does not have more of a causative or preventative effect than anything else, but in my experience it does kill off brain cells. I really miss those brain cells.
Reply:I have stage 4 ( that%26#039;s considered terminal) cancer of the lymph system. 6 years ago the doctors (8 of them) told me that unless I did chemotherapy and surgery I would be dead within 6 months. I smoke weed everyday ( not much, usually one joint daytime, one joint night time) and every time I get checked they tell me there%26#039;s no new growth to the tumors. When I ask them if they think it%26#039;s possibly due to smoking weed they just shake their heads and say %26quot;No, you%26#039;re just lucky.%26quot; I say---%26quot;Ha !%26quot;
Reply:any smoke that is inhailed brings carcinogins into the lungs and thats bad. Go make some brownies and you will have all of the good and none of the bad. There is still one problem with this though, you eat a brownie get the munchies, so you eat another brownie bht then the munchies get even worse, its a vicious cycle.
Reply:It de[ends on whether you are talking about eating it or smoking it.
There may be some credence to eating cannabis oils may be ok or even good for the body, much like olive oil is good for the body. At least that%26#039;s the claim. However, when you burn something you are changing its chemical composition!
The problems though DO exist. There are some that claim marijuana inhibits cancer growth. Unfortunately, it seems that claim is false, at least while smoked. Studies show that Marijuana DOES contribute to lung cancer, especially if used with tobacco and alcohol!
Even if it did help fight lung cancer, whether the person using it stayed away from tobacco products and drank only moderately, smoking pot or hemp oil, or whatever else you wanted to call it does contain carcinogens. It also contains stuff that mess with the mind! It has been clearly linked to mental psychosis and schizophrenia!
So to say that hash/marijuana/hemp when smoked is healthy, when the benefits of doing so are still in doubt, or evidence speaks to the contrary, is like saying hydrogenated oils are healthier for you because they don%26#039;t have as much saturated fat, even though hydrogenated oils are just as bad, or worse, for the heart and arteries.
Hemp oil may be useful for cooking, and may be healthy when consumed by mouth. Water is good for you when you drink it. But, inhaling water into your lungs is not good for you, nor is the use of smoked hemp/marijuana!
Reply:oh well, it may reduce ur risk of cancer, but at the same time reduce ur cognition, concentration, memory, which means it%26#039;s dangerous for the smoker when driving or walking on the street, leading to accidents like car accidents, so yeah, u have the risk of dying unexpectedly. Some even experience paranoia, panic attacks. Some have no self control and over dose on it, a few of these people die because of respiratory problems, a few end up in hospital, traumatized.
Weed shouldn%26#039;t be legalized, u know people are greedy, not everyone is descent to only treat their cancerous patients with weed, they would steal it from the hospital, make up fake patient files, and use the weed to sell where else. Some kids who buy this thing on the street will end up ruining their education because school is so much boring than getting stoned.
Imagine what ur country would be like?
