I have invented a foodstuff that produces 69 cancer causing chemicals, can i sell it?

138>With the government advertising over Christmas that they know cigerettes produce 69 cancer causing chemicals why on earth have they not banned it instantly ?

Is this institutional murder ?

I would not be allowed to introduce a new breakfast food to my B%26amp;B menu that immitted 69 cancer causing chemicals, is this double standards ?

If i invented a toaster that could kill you in 69 different ways would i be allowed to sell it ?

Perhaps the TAX smokescreen is clouding thier judgement.......

By the way, this is not a judgment on pro or anti smoking, i believe in voluntary euthanasia so its up to you, but it is a judgment on hypocrisy
Reply:Too true blue........it%26#039;s all about tax........but watch out for some thing else to be taxed when the f@g sale%26#039;s diminish.
Reply:Why would you invent something to cause people cancer
Reply:Good point - it just breaks my heart when I see people, especially young ones, buying cigarettes. I always want to shout %26#039;Don%26#039;t!%26#039;, but I know they wouldn%26#039;t thank me! Trouble is, if smoking was given a total ban, no doubt there would be gangsters who would try to profit by selling cigarettes illegally - cf prohibition in the US.
Reply:If you want the government to ban smoking, then the tax will have to come from somewhere else, so it%26#039;d mean earning even less each month, and as it is, with what we get taxed, it%26#039;s like kicking Thursday %26amp; Friday in the nuts.

Besides, car emissions do far wider damage as a whole, but they ain%26#039;t banned driving.
Reply:You hit the nail on the head, the government make far too much from the tax on tobbacco to ever ban it, quite simply, if they banned tobbacco then the tax on other things such as fuel would go through the roof.
Reply:hay, try not to get to worked up about it, please don%26#039;t introduce any more c.c.a. into society:)
Reply:Do you take Paypal payments?
Reply:Far, far more deaths due to the direct or indirect consumption of alcohol. They did ban it, and guess what, that created the Mafia in the US.

In addition, the government recieves billions in tax revenue from cigarette sales.

1/4 of the population is addicted and a significant portion of that figure is so addicted that even threat or knowledge of impending death will not swerve them from smoking...the black market would go through the roof.
Reply:Heh, I finally find someone who knows what that kinda irony is. You KNOW it%26#039;s a money-related conspiracy.

There%26#039;s no real concern behind it. If there was, they%26#039;d ban water. Why? Water%26#039;s lethal. You breathe it, you die. It%26#039;s found in tumors. It can cause decay in metals, and can explode violently with certain other metals. An over-abundance of it can damage entire cities and cause millions of dollars worth of damage and even destroy entire neighborhoods. It%26#039;s a dangerous hazard, so why haven%26#039;t they banned it? ( Besides the fact we need water to survive, I mean. )
Reply:i don%26#039;t think bannig smoking is going to make the slightest difference to the determined self destructive smoker, yes, hypocrisy is an equally dangerous trait %26amp; as rampant as smoking cnly without a statutory warning %26amp; almost impossible to identify till you%26#039;ve been at the recieving end.By the way don%26#039;t even attempt to sell the toaster !
Reply:I guess it%26#039;s all down to %26quot;Buyer Beware%26quot;. If anyone complains about the sale of cigarettes / other products which cause cancer, they%26#039;ll just be told, %26quot;well, you were warned.%26quot; won%26#039;t they? That%26#039;s why they%26#039;re sticking all these warning signs on the cigarettes, they%26#039;re just anticipating a backlash of people suing the government for omitting to tell them that smoking kills.
Reply:What you fail to understand is that people that smoke are aware of the effects and assume the risks and so forth ,but in the broader scope do you realize how many people would be out of a job if cigarettes were to be banned ? I%26#039;m not so sure that the economy of this country could sustain such major blow as to have cigarettes baned . Neither could the government due to all the tax revenue it would lose since literally millions would be out of a job.
Reply:Many vegan meat substitutes cause cancer. In a clinical study, it was shown that people came down with cancer after eating tofu.
Reply:Linked to cancer, they do not necessarily kill every smoker do they? There are many everyday food items that are linked to cancer but shops still sell them.
Reply:in all probability yes
Reply:sure! to the medical industry. it would keep you sick and keep them in business, developing new %26quot;cures%26quot;... it%26#039;s what makes the world go round! just tell me what it is so i don%26#039;t buy any.
Reply:I don%26#039;t need the government to %26#039;ban%26#039; anything for me. Just make sure I can access the information (no HIDING of information allowed) and I%26#039;ll make my own decisions, thank you.
