An anti-hormone type drug like tamoxifen would have less side effects than most chemotherapy drugs but that is not to say there are no side effects, because all drugs potentially have side effects.

And no, the side effects are not the same. A lot of anti-cancer drugs do not cause nausea, or low white blood cell counts, or anemia.
