Enlarged lymph node...still?

496>Ok, its been 2 weeks since my last question about this problem. My right neck lymph node is STILL enlarged, even after taking 2 rounds of anti-biotics. I have an appt with my doctor next Tuesday, but i am trippin%26#039; out over the thought of Lymphoma. I spend alot of time with my brother, who has advanced renal cell cancer, so im freaked out about this lymph node. I dont understand why it is continuing to stay swollen even tho all my original symptoms have been gone.
Reply:See an ENT (ear nose and throat) doctor. It could be a number of things: enlarged tonsils and adenoids holding infection, sinus cavities that hold infection (you need a sinus CAT scan to detect it) or an allergy that you don%26#039;t know you have (see an allergist). Lymphoma is only about an 8% chance when there%26#039;s a lymph node.
Reply:You need Biopsy. That would also help ease your mind.
Reply:lymph node enlarge mean infection. I would suggest you to see a ear nose throat specialist for diagnosis. You did not describe your symptom and sign therefore not able to provide you with much information.
Reply:like you are doing, i would get it checked out as well. it could be that the antibiotics are just not strong enough to fight the infection off. i had one that was swollen and the doctor told me that they can calcify and stay inlarged. if thatis the case, it is no big deal unless it is causing you pain. i hope that this might give you some comfort while you wait to find out, but i wouldnt worry until you know that it is something to worry about. the stress you are causing yourself is probably worse than what is wrong with your lymph node.
